Hugh fuel burn during long idle and engine shudder

I use my truck as a mobile office in south Louisiana. As you know it is hot here, so I let truck idle for extended periods of time. It burns a terrible amount of fuel just doing this. It also has a distinct shudder every minute or so. This is a new 2023 ecoboost with 13600 miles on it. None of my other truck have done anything like this, not even close to fuel burn. I could go through a 1/8-1/4 tank idling for 6-7 hrs. Anyone else have this issue?

I just bought at 2024 last Saturday and my engine also shudders. it seems to get better with highways speeds or warming up. 2024 XLT Powerboost.

I also idle sometimes as long as you do and it does shudder. I think it’s just the engine design. My wife’s Expedition does it as well in the school line. Her’s is 2 years older but same engine and same shudder at idle.

What do you mean shudders? You have had the truck for 3 days and the engine has a shudder that "seems" to get better at highway speeds? Yikes. My '22 with 17k miles has been butter since day one.

I bought my 2021 with 18k miles on it and when I went for the test drive at the dealer, they had it idling to warm it up for me (it was winter time). I noticed the shudder as soon as I sat down. It's got 50k miles now and it still does it. I'm used to it. It doesn't bother me at all.
