For those of us in the negatives or single digits, hows your truck holding up?

The 5.0 is a little hesitant to start but she idles at 1500 for a quick warm up then backs down over time. Transmissions a little rough when its cold. No battery issues to report. Might do the "flood mode" to prime the oil just to help with the start up. Been letting it idle for about 10-15 minutes.

so far so good, Oklahoma has been around 1*, with up to -17*, but granted, mines in the garage. Other than work, which I use it at lunch. Trust starts right up.

My Powerboost never thought it would see these temperatures. It was mislead when it was shipped to the Gulf Coast from the Dearborn F150 Powerboost maternity ward.

So far it only seems to object to the coldstart shock of frigid coolant, but once that blood is a bit warmed up it seems to be extra frisky.
I suspect it's those cool IAT2 intake temps? 52F IAT is awesome compared to 126F. ?

My brain can't fathom the concept of single or negative digits... If it's less than 60 degrees here, I'm fully covered up..

The truck doesn't seem to GAF though. I do appreciate the heated seats, steering wheel, and quickness of the PB to get heat into the cabin though.

Yes, pull out your tiny violin for me.

We have been roughly -10 to -20 the last couple days here in Southern WI, sits in the garage for 12hrs at night and then outside at work for 12 hrs during the day. It has started each time so far but even after my 25 min commute it will go into the "power save" mode. I have been fighting that for a while now but the battery "tested good" at my last oil change so the dealer refused to change it under warranty. I will be biting the bullet and upgrading out of pocket before long.

Other than the battery issue that is easily remedied, the truck has been great. The 5.0 starts a little slow (I'm sure the battery issue isn't helping that) but once it lights the sounds the MBRP duals make is music to my ears, even at 5 AM ?

I let it run for 5-10 minutes and hit the road, trans is a little sluggish at first but straightens itself out quickly and then it's all sunshine and rainbows the rest of the drive. The Recon Grapplers have also proven to be an effective tire with the 2 day long snow storm we had this week and I have been very happy with the tires and the way the truck handles adverse conditions.

Thats really annoying about your battery. Seems to be a more common issue on these forums. These trucks have so many parasitic draws its crazy. Thankful my STX doesnt have too many bells and whistles. Ford and dealerships are starting to become enemies of the people lol.

Teens in the morning, mine fast idles longer, as expected. I just let her warm up longer than normal. My seats and steering wheel are nice and warm when I get in and press the start button. 3.5EB

Its not as bad as it sounds. Fall is honestly the worst. going from 60s in the day to 30s at night is more shocking to the system. +20 and -10 feel pretty much the same but in a sucky way.

Unfortunately, not that great. 2023 2.7 with 8K miles. Temp has dipped down to 10 degrees and I am often hearing and feeling a loud grinding sound from my D/S front wheel, almost feels like driving on rumble strips. I’ve seen some other threads with people experiencing the same issue when it is cold out/below 32. Some dealerships have replaced the IWE and wheel bearings, seems to be a 50/50 shot that works, otherwise the sound is coming back. Hopefully Ford has a TSB soon…

What’s “Flood Mode”??

it was 12 F this morning before lunch
she had sat since Friday, so she had the 4 and 5 and even 8 F.
she started slowly, as in the crank speed sounded slow, but she fired up

i sat in driveway until water came up to 67 and then decided it had fast idled at 1700 long enough.
by time i got to the main road a bit over a mile she was pumping out heat through the floor vents, steering wheel was toasty and seat heat on low was perfect. But wipers juice was still frozen and window was grey with blown dirt

when i got back from the grocery, the now defrosted ices was dripping off in fast order
on the concrete. went out about 40 minutes later and there were blobs of frozen drippings
now they are all but a memory as the air is so dry they are evaporating
still only 25 out

hard freeze tonight as well.
roads were pretty dry, people driving actually very calm and slower

Not completely unheard of, but a little unusual for Missouri: -4

Ford F-150 How's your F-150 holding up in the cold weather? 20240114_082636

I can't offer much valuable insight, because my truck is garaged. But I have had to go out in this mess a few times, and the truck was left parked for awhile. I can report that I have experienced zero issues, and have come to really appreciate:

- Heated seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Remote start (at distance, with FordPass)
