There is a section of Highway 2 near High River, south of Calgary, that always reverts my cruise control to 80km/h even though the posted limit is obviously 110km/h. This is super annoying. What can be done to rectify it?

Is there an offramp or side road or something that has 80km/h posted? The truck uses a camera to read the speed limit signs, I don't think there is a database or anything you can update.

Many people have complained about the cruise control with the adaptive speed limit setting on (not sure what it's called), will sometimes quickly slow them down to 35mph (or was it 15?) on an interstate when it picks up a sign on an off ramp.

Or maybe there are versions of the truck with a database instead of the camera, which based on above, could actually be safer, even if it can't adjust in real time to construction zones, etc.

No, there is no obvious 80km/h sign in the area. I have so far seen no evidence that my truck is reading signs with camera since it ignores temporary speed signs in construction zones even though the signs used are identical to permanent signs. So I'm thinking it is using a database.

What features do you have? Do you have bluecruise or active drive assist (I think they are the same). I see you have a lariat. Is it a 500A, 501A or 502A? Or better yet, do you have your sticker or you vin so we can see what is included in the truck?

I looked it up, apparently some models will use the map data. I'm guessing it will default to that if you don't have speed sign recognition turned on or if you don't have that feature at all.

If that's the case either the map data is wrong, or you need updated map data.

I have 502A with Copilot360. And Speed Sign recognition is set to ON.

If that's the case, it should be using the camera to detect signs (it's in that black boxed off area behind the rearview mirror). Just a note that it will see a sign and wait for you to just pass it to update the speed you see. So if you miss the sign, it's already in the rearview when it updates on the dash.

I've never had it update with that setting on from map data that I've noticed. If I turn from a road that is 25mph, to one that is 45mph, I swear it still says 25until I see a speed limit sign, but to be honest I've never paid that much attention.

I would look off to the side again just to be sure there isn't a side road or another sign that it's picking up. Would be kinda funny/frustrating if it was something like a billboard it was picking up.

Ok. Thanks for the input. I'll check it out next time I drive the highway.

A road near me recently changed the speed limit from 45 to 40. My F-150 will automatically display 45 on the dash when I turn onto that road until I pass a "40" sign and it updates. I assume that will keep happening until the map is updated (Ford isn't the only one, Waze has the old limit too).

There is also a random spot on a highway near me where the truck thinks the limit drops from 65 to 55. There is no sign of any type that could be fooling the system so I assume that the map is wrong there too.

While I like the idea of speed limit assist in general I don't think the implementation is very good and I've stopped using it. Mostly I would like to see it be more gentle when slowing down and have some sort of logic so giant changes didn't erroneously happen due to misread signs.

Teaching a teenager to drive and using 21 PB. Doing urban, residential, interstates and rural areas for the required 50 hours after drivers Ed. One of the issues that continues to pop up is his relying on the dash speed limit that the truck identifies for that road. Unfortunately, on some of the rural roads and even private lanes in the rural areas the dash shows 55 mph as the limit. He takes that information as gospel and tries to drive that speed on slippery, very narrow and hilly roads and paths. Is there a way to turn off the dash designated roadway speed limit number?

If it was my kid, I would teach them out of this incorrect assumption / bad habit.

He/she will be driving other cars with this feature soon enough.

Frank, you are correct. The camera did pick up a yellow advisory speed sign just at the entrance to an off ramp, which I hadn't noticed before. Funny thing is that I found other off ramp speed signs are not detected, so its not consistent. I also confirmed the camera does pick up temporary speed signs at construction work.

I noticed that speed limit assist is disabled in ECO Mode. So you could try that instead of NORMAL Mode.

I drive a freeway where they upped the speed limit; they moved the old speed limit sign about 3 miles down the road. I kept thinking I missed the sign because the dash updates the speed limit.

This video was shot by a passenger using an iPhone - not the greatest quality, but it gets the point across. @ 3 seconds in it does ghost update. I would really like to know how to fix this. I just did the latest software update from Ford.

That seems odd.

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Mostly I'm in Eco mode and Adaptive Cruise Control and speed sign reading works great.

Yeah, it must have been a glitch in ECO mode back then. Its working OK now, although I still get the occasional glitch with resetting custom gage configs and rogue parking brake operation on start-up.

However I'm still having issues with false detection of off-ramp speed limits. By now I'm prepared since I know where most of them are on my regular routes.
