While backing out of my garage I clipped the passenger sideview and broke the surround and the motor that moves the mirror. The glass is fine and it appears the motor has 2 pieces, one of which is attached to the back of the glass. Does anyone know how to remove it? It is a black plastic piece with 4 white prong type things sticking out. It does not want to simply pop out.

It just pops off but isn't designed to come on and off. Tilt the glass all the way up and reach in underhanded as close to the motor as possible, using your thumbs against the housing frame. It may or may not survive. Replacement glass is probably the cheapest part of the whole mirror assembly. If you have even average size fingers you will likely need to use a tool of some sort on the smaller/standard mirrors.

the pieces of the motor are separated. in the middle is what broke apart from the other side of the motor. so here is what I am looking at. doesn't seem to be an easy way to separate. guess tonight I will try to pry it out...
