How to Remove 7 Pin Connector

I need to remove this to add an auxiliary reverse light. On my 2016 it was easy to remove, however on my 2021 im not sure how to remove this. I dont want to break the plastic tab, any idea how to manipulate this thing?

Hard to see but my guess is you press on a tab in the middle of the gray part

I believe you need to PULL the gray tab out to "unock" the push-tab. It's a two-stage affair.

Make it easier on yourself. Release the entire trailer connector (the metal clips on the side) so the 7 & 12 pin can be pushed out then you don't have to work from under the truck. You should be able to figure out the 7 pin connection release then.

This. Did it just a month ago. Squeeze the metal clips on the sides of the entire connector and push it out.

I’ve released the entire connector from the bumper but I COULD NOT budge the 7 pin harness from the back of the connector. Finally figured out after you remove the gray tab you have to push in on the black tab while you pull the harness out.

Did you have any issues putting the connector back in the bumper? Mine won't lock in. It's like I can't push the connector in far enough for the metal clips to engage.

Applied dielectric grease to the pins before you reconnect it. It will add a little bit of waterproofing and prevent some water intrusion.
