Hey there —

This isn't so much of a F150 post, as it is a FOX post. And yes, it's a rant.

I sent in my FOX 2.5s for a rebuilt (third rebuild in 60k — that's another post entirely), and I received a call early October saying they were finished. And then I received an email saying the bushings needed to complete the build were back ordered. It's now been a month, I have yet to receive a call back (I've left at least 3 voicemails), and zero emails (probably 5 emails at this point) with an update.

Before sending these shocks in — again, to be rebuilt for the 3rd time in 60k miles — I was even questioning sticking w/ FOX. This rebuild process has been a REAL pain in the ASS. There's only a few select shops (aside from Fox themselves) that even rebuild FOX, and quite frankly, their customer service is TRASH.

Really, this post is for you guys thinking of going FOX. DON'T. NOT worth the HASSLE. And performance wise, eh, can't say 4x times the compeition is worth it. I will never support or run FOX again.

Hope I get my shocks this decade. Might be buying Bilsteins before the end of the year for a tax writeoff. What a joke.

Yeah that’s 2 rebuilds too many for 60k. Are you running without rear shocks that long or swapping a back up set? At least it’s the rears, the fronts are a lot more work!

Sorry about your luck. I don’t play with the rebuildable suspension anymore, 5100s here. Lots of guys on the Tacoma forums used to rebuild shocks on the side, I guess it’s pretty straightforward and easy and I remember rants about Fox/Icon turnaround.

That sucks. I'm a Bilstein guy and highly recommend the 6112/5160s. For the money they are very good.

I put the 2.0’s on my brand new 2024 RCSB. The ride is horrible, but it may be that at least one of them is bad. There is a lot of clunking, rattling going on.
Of course the seller sent me to Fox. Fox says to send them in. Nice. So pay another install/balance, and then another install and balance when they get them back to me.,
My goal was to level my truck with a coilover as it is superior to a puck level. I went Fox because of the aluminum tube, hoping it would help with corrosion. My only previous experience with Fox, was on a high end full suspension mountain bike. The front fork was hemorrhaging oil, so I sent it in to Fox for repair, and then they lost it. I had to buy another fork to go on a planned vacation, but Fox eventually found and returned my fork to me. I guess I should have already known better.
I’ve got Billsteins going on next week. The ride has got to better, and I’ve had luck with Billsteins in the past.
It was a very expensive experiment, and I am not sure if I can sell these to anyone, with a clear conscience.
I would have to recommend staying away from Fox.

Fox is certainly a pain in the arse and they don’t last long at all. Had them on a Tacoma, what a waste

that sucks. fox customer service is known to be horrendous, however i've had amazing luck with their 2.0's on multiple vehicles. SDHQ did my king rebuilds a few months ago and they were awesome to work with. expensive though. I'll be going all bilstein in the future.

Have you paid them? If so, was it with a credit card? If you dispute the charge and they get a charge back they might suddenly remember how to work a keyboard or telephone...

Just the old fx4 shocks. Honestly, kinda like the ride… I have custom leaf pack, so the squish is nice. They do let the rear end wander on dirt though…

I was going to rebuild the myself, then found a new guy to rebuild. One was completely seized up — again — he right there shaft was bent, but couldn’t confirm. He convinced me to see what fix said. Worth a go on a set of $2k shocks.
Will see if they show up before my scheduled alignment (another blown SPC ball joint @ 20k miles).

I’m pretty blown away by the quality of these so called good quality aftermarket guys. I never had issues with my OME on my Taco and drove WAY more Offroad in that rig.

Damn. We sometimes like to think a company can change. I put my lift on during Covid. It was the only thing available at the time. Might go Eibachs too… heard they are soft like FOX (I use my truck more for pay than anything).

It’s a blessing and a curse. This rebuild was free.

Unfortunately, this isn't a unique issue with Fox. I read quite a few reviews stating that their shocks and coilovers had leaking issues well before the 20k mile mark. I had two friends that had issues with them on different pickups, that's why I only considered Bilstein and Eibach.

Not to rub salt in an open wound....but if they offer a refund you could go with Eibach, since everything I researched seem to say that they last longer and their warranty is definitely better. Just food for thought, since I've been very happy with mine so far.
