I don’t think you’re hacking up this thread at all. That the beauty of forums like this, asking these types of questions and taking on these types of projects really grows the base of knowledge for the entire forum. I would encourage anyone to ask these types of questions
Thanks man! appreciate the support

i just realized i will need FORSCAN to be able to accomplish programming, is there a dongle out there that will work with both FORSCAN and FDRS (i'd like to update my modules if i can kill two birds with one stone)

Man that looks unreal!

I know it’s a bit unrelated but how do you go about doing heated and cooled seats factory style? Is it basically new seat covers and an element or are more things needed? Could be a huge upgrade for my lowly mid trim XLT!
I did it already and its way more than jsut that.

Heated only trucks are controlled by the HVAC module.

Heated and cooled seats have all controls go throught the DSM.

As far as heated and cooled its better to buy complete seats than build the parts and harnesses will be insanley expensive. You need new foam for the seats. Youll need new frames.

I aleady went through it all. So save yourself the headache and buy the whole seat from a wrecked truck if heated and cooled seats are what you want.

Yes. I did. I pieced that together also.
Man that's amazing!

For my lowly setup, would you happen to know if i can get the heated steering wheel running with just the clockspring and heated wheel? I really only ever need on really cold starts in the morning so was thinking maybe have it run 10 minutes when temperatures are below 32F or something

The only thing I can’t say for sure is the 8” screen. I know you can activate the heated wheel button I just don’t know how well it will work.

What about the floor harness anything needed for that to complete the heated and cooled seats setup?

I found a 502A that is optioned very similar to my 501A and compared the As-Builts. This is what I have come up with so far:

I'm wondering about the top line here IPC Remote start steering wheel. Does your steering wheel stay ON when you get in the car and go?

Yeah so what i was thinking is not activating the soft button, and only have the wheel turn ON with remote start and then when i get in the vehicle and go. So basically otherwise i wouldn't be able to turn on the heated wheel.

That’s a possibility. I can’t say one way or another how well that would work

I still have not done the install yet, so I cannot say for sure how accurate/complete that list of changes is. I was hoping to get feedback on that list from someone that has done the upgrade, but no one responded.

I have everything ready for the hsw installed just not the steering wheel. So when it’s cold outside and I turn on my truck with remote start the heated seat button comes on and the heated steering wheel light button comes on and the when you get in truck and put key in to take control it turns off all the heated components and you take control of what you want on

This is what I’m using for both FDRS and forscan. Had no issues with it.
