I logged it in another post back there somewhere.

I checked V, at the bat, at each fan speed. I found nothing magic about fan speed 5, measuring it that way.
You would only see a change in voltage if the BMS had already dropped voltage below 14V

If the voltage is 14V at fan speed 1,2,3,4 then speed 5 will have no impact.
But once Ford's BMS determines the SOC has reached a certain value (~85%), it lowers the voltage on the 12V bus.

I’ve gotten to the point that I am beyond frustrated with this issue. Any recommendations on the largest 12V battery I can fit in here and most reliable brand?

Measure your battery tray. If you don't have a powerboost, then you should be able to fit an H-8 sized battery. Powerboost will only accommodate an H-7 due to modules that sit in the tray. Be aware that most battery look up sites only recommend an H-6 and H-7 as that is what came installed from Ford. You will need to order a different battery wrap from Ford. As far as brand, I use both Napa and Interstate , but people have gotten Walmart's battery. Whichever one you decide on make sure it is an AGM, not a conventional lead acid.

Thank you! I have a powerboost and was thinking about duralast platinum agm. Has anyone tried replacing FoMoCo with aftermarket and had better luck with solving these issues?

OK, so I could put the batt on the charger, on the correct side of the BMS, wait to float mode, run the same test and I should find a voltage jump at the batt, fan speed 5?

I replaced mine with that exact battery (Duralast Platinum AGM, H7) and haven't had a single issue since.

Yes people have replaced their Ford battery with aftermarket and have resolved a lot of their problems . What many people on this forum believe happened is that a lot of trucks sat on chip hold with their batteries installed allowing the batteries to do a deep discharge over time. This is never good for a battery. Over time deep discharge actually does physical damage to the plates inside the battery so even if the battery is fully charged it is never 100% effective . Autozone's batteries are good and there are enough stores around if you have a problem.

Awesome. Thank you, I’ll get it changed out this week.

Any thoughts on Interstate AGM? I can get it from Costco for $80 less than the duralast

Fan speed 5 simply triggers a 14V output from the digital alternator (DC/DC converter) on the Powerboost. If the battery management strategy already was calling for 14V, then fan speed 5 isn't necessarily getting you a boost. Although you also would need to compare the current (amps) being supplied since it's possible that there is 14V being supplied but not enough excess current above what the truck is consuming.

Below is a screenshot where the SOC is 93%. The charging strategy is basically ZILCH. The DC/DC converter dropped to 12.X Volts and ZERO amps for charging the AGM. (34 AMPs are being supplied, but that's what the truck is consuming)
At this moment if the fan speed was increased to 5, the voltage would be increased to 14V. I wouldn't know the amount of AMPs unless I did the procedure. But it would be a trickle charge quantity, which is better than 0.

Below is the SOC at 83%, and the DC/DC converter is supplying both 14.7V and 5amps of charging current

Just my opinion, Interstate is a good battery, but if you have one and it develops a problem, then you need to search out an Interstate dealer who are all independents. They have to contact the local warehouse to see if it is still under warranty, what the prorate will be if not fully covered and then hopefully they will have a replacement in stock. Costco does not have a store everywhere, but AutoZone, Walmart, Napa, and Advance stores are more plentiful and more likely to have a replacement in stock. Whatever battery you buy, keep the purchase receipt in the truck so you have it on hand. Good luck.

Awesome, thanks for the insight! I’ve had it with this FoMoCo battery!

For anyone wondering...This fit in my '21 5.0 with no issues.

Starts stronger and faster, and my auto start/stop works again too.
