Hey guys,

I know the 10r80 pops up all over these forums. I am looking for some guidance/insight on my 22 Tremor.

The truck gets driven daily and every morning when first taking off, the truck shifts very firm from 1-3, the colder the temp, the worst the shift. Once the first 1-3 shift occurs, all following 1-3 shifts are fine. I have tried shifting the truck manually from 1-2-3 and that does not seem to help either. If trans temp is above 80-85 degrees it doesn't seem to shift hard. I believe the PCM is updated to the latest software, as I updated all modules February of this year. Trans fluid was checked and verified correct by the dealer, and adaptive tables have been reset approximately 560 miles ago. Does anyone have experience with this particular issue? I've seen other threads describing similar issues but no solutions or possible causes. Thanks

I live north of you and experience some extreme temperature swings, particularily the past 2 months. Minus 10c to plus 15c in 24-48 hrs. My transmission is 100% temperature sensitive, once a bit of heat is created it's very smooth. I'm getting the FP tune next week, not sure if that will help.

It would definitely be interesting to see if that would help. I know others have said the FP tune makes a big difference. I'd love to try it out, but I am not sure how it would affect the extended warranty. I've got a 3/36 Ford plan, and I know the FP tune comes with 3/36 as well, from what I've heard they aren't compatible, I wouldn't want to lose my 3/36 Ford plan. If they were compatible with no problems then I would definitely consider.

I recently purchased a 21' and have noticed that the shifts are more noticeable when trans is cold.

I have this same issue with my 21 Lariat with 3.5 EB. I brought it up to the dealer. He says quite normal. It has something to do with the trans fluid having to go through a small orifice in a valve. So by his word, nothing to worry about

Interesting. I can understand it being fluid viscosity/temp related. I have a hard time believing brand new trucks on the lot do it. Makes me wonder if Ford redesigned something to fix the issue, or if it's just another quirk.
