Hard shifting up and down into 3rd.

I’ve seen similar issues to this but not as specific regarding 3rd gear. I recently bought a new to me 2021 3.5 4x4. Currently has 33,000 miles and it has started shifting hard into 3rd. Regardless of the drive mode I have it in there is a noticeable shift going from either 1st or second up to 3rd and the same down from 5th or 4th about 75% of the time. It doesn’t do this into any other gear. I’ve seen posts where the transmission has been reprogrammed, is that the solve or am I over reacting?

i have had similar issues. Trans replaced 3 times. The last 2 times, the hard shifts occurred. I dont think it was the trans at all. Last attempt with tech was he was going to reset and reprogram the trans module and that seemed to have fixed the hard shift problem. my hard shifts were from 10 to 9 and sometimes from 8 to 7.

Flashing red light, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, go directly to the dealer. This is the exact symptom that many, including myself had with this transmission. Mine lasted until 120k before shitting itself but it was doing the same symptom as you since 25k miles. Bring it to the dealer and do not accept no.

Ok I had some hard shifting from time to time and some hard down shifting as well not a very smooth transmission. I just installed the ford performance tune for the 3.5 ecoboost and know my transmission is smooth as butter it's a big difference in how it's drives, also 50 extra hp and the torque comes sooner in the rpms. Put a smile on my face every time I lean on that gas pedal.
