OBD Fusion (iOS app) has a fairly recent update that allows you to view PIDs through CarPlay. It is text only, no graphical gauges.

All that really matters is the ATF temperature. Realize though that the flash point for ATF is around 450 degrees so don't freakout if you see yours at more than 300 degrees.

With a heavy load in my last truck when I was going up a 8% grade with outside air temperatures well over 100 degrees and at more than 8,000 feet of elevation but temp would rise but as soon as I was going down the grade the temperature would start to fall. Having an external transmission fluid cooler made all the difference in the world.

Yepper on all of the above, here's my default setup, 'real number' digital temps enabled with FORScan (may not work for all display versions?)

Trim level of Lariat and up with the 12 inch IPC only can be enabled with Forscan.

If you see a trans fluid temp over 300 your transmission is toast.

Ford did (finally) listen on this one. Although not enabled by default, you can configure (most) of the gauges to show both sweep & digits on the 2024s.

Trouble is.... that is a expensive way to get the temps digitally - by getting a 24...LOL

As noted, I am able to get the actual numbers to display on my '24 via the menu button on the steering wheel and digging into vehicle settings. Not intuitive by any means, but it's there.

If you can get through Forscan and display it that way.

And as noted, I would swap the oil pressure for the trans temp on a towing trip. There should be no reason to monitor oil pressure on a modern engine, for the most part.

Thanks for the replies guys.

My phone will otherwise be occupied, no OBD and no Forscan so, I'm stuck with stock settings.

I'll nose around in the settings today and see what makes the most sense.

Get a obdii adapter like the obdlink mx+. Then you can see all the gauges and values you want on your phone.
I agree, I want to set up my tablet like that, however I think it would be challenging to run the wires in aesthetic way. I don't like seeing a bunch of clutter. I'll be interested to see what those who have done so did with theirs.

I second the guys who are saying substitute The oil gauge for trans temp, that's how I have mine set up, as you can do something about temperatures rising slowly, pull over, or slow down.

I would get rid of the turbo and defiantly have the trans temp showing as that is most important to me.

I bought this and have an automation on my iPhone to start the app when my phones Bluetooth connects to the truck. I do have to tap “connect” in obdlink to connect to the adapter. I only connect the power if I need to.

I found mounting like this does a decent job of keeping the phone cool while not blocking the vent so much that i don’t get air.

Yep, I found the menu to change the gauges, ,,, makes me glad that I bought the 24 vs. 23s I was looking at. Very happy with all of the gauges now. Thanks.
Taking our first towing trip next weekend, and anxious to see how the truck does.
Our truck, as built towing capacity is 10,400 lbs with 1808 lbs of payload which should do great with our 5500 lbs wet TT.
