Not sure exactly of the issue but I put some gas in the truck from a gas can and it did not change the gas gauge or miles to empty. Thinking I was still short on gas to make it to the gas station I put 10 bucks into the truck to make it to my preferred gas station but it was on 1 MTE when I put gas in the truck it only took 28 Gallons instead of the full 36 gallons that my tank hold. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

Happens all the time. Pretty sure its on purpose, but with other vehicles I've had, its only been a couple gallons.

I don't know exactly what mine has, as I don't typically run it down that far. But I am not concerned as I have hit 0 MTE before and have driven a couple miles to gas station like that.

If you look at the bottom of the gastank, it is uneven, there for adding a gallon or two doesn't really increase the fuel level enough to get the DTE to reset.

For what it’s worth.
on one of my long trips, I gassed up in El Paso @ 9 miles to empty.
Took 32.2 gallons.
so, there was nearly 4 gallons still hiding in the tank. Somewhere between 60 & 80 miles.

There is an anti-bounce protection built into the software. If you only added, say 3 or so gallons, that software probably interpreted it as a bounce... had you kept going knowing you had an additional few gallons, it likely would have come around and settled at a higher level.

That's just a gauge delay. It's in my 20 year old ford as well. It's why the gauge moves slow when filling. There are settings in forscan that can alter the gauge. Anyone that's having issues and has made forscan changes may want to double check them.

Call it gauge delay or anti-bounce... same-same...

NOPE not here.I couldnt tell you how many miles will go on mte. I ran out of gas last time in 1974. IMO too many gas stations around here in SC to even dare try that.

Agree... Out in my neck of the woods it was -36ºF the other night...Running out of gas takes on a whole new meaning in that kind of winter... And our gas stations are a bit farther apart out here...

I never usually run the truck low and i don’t mind a little gap say a gallon or 2 but 8 gallons is a lot?
