Hi guy. This question is for those of you who have received their PowerBoosts.

Does defrost work off the electric motor or traditional way?
Google was no help

Regular way. Needs hot water from the ICE.

Seems kinda silly, Thank you
Not really, that's how the heat works in any hybrid I've been in. Sometimes they have an electric air conditioner not ran by the belt.

Kinda. But there is a cheap workaround. With the powerboost and the onboard 120V 20 amp power I run a small forced air heater in the winter. Instant heat really warms up the cab fast! Plus the heated wheel and seats warm up fast too. When really cold I generally start out with the HVAC off because it runs the ICE to heat the water/warm engine... even when not needed for vehicle movement.

Compared to a remote start and HVAC use gas mileage is dramatically improved. Seat, wheel and cab are warm in a couple of minutes. After about 5 miles or so the ICE is warm and so I switch on the HVAC and kill the electric heater to use waste combustion heat.

This scenario breaks down when serious defrost is needed. Then remote start is your friend.

It runs the engine to provide heat. So the engine won't cycle off while the Max defrost button is pushed...
