Hey all, installed the previous gen Roush Fox coilover on my 2021 Powerboost. Noticing that it’s making a kind of metal popping or clunk sound when I’m turning at slow speeds. The sound isn’t consistent, sometimes it’s a bit louder/more pronounced than the video.

Torqued a few things quick and all seemed to spec, going to spend a little longer tomorrow going through everything. Don’t see unusual wear on the steering stop deal and it happens in 2wd, so I’d assume it isn’t the cv axle binding but maybe.

Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I had the same issue after having the Fox 2.0 coil overs installed. Happened (popped) almost every time I made a sharp left turn into my driveway. Took it back to shop where they were installed and to fix it he said they did a little grinding on the steering stop on the knuckle and greased it. It worked in my case.

Appreciate it. Yea I figured that may be the problem. I didn't take any before photos so I don't know what "normal" is here but there's definitely contact there. I could see the noise being the steering stop on the knuckle "popping" off the black part under pressure as you turn the wheel.

I assume they grinded the bottom of the knuckle part down a bit, I'd assume at an angle so the black part slides off a little easier. Any chance you could take a pic of yours?

May be a good excuse to just buy the Icon Tremor knuckles lol

Well, was under there re torquing and just poking around and 100% found the source of the sound. It’s only doing it on the passenger side, not the drivers side.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

That spring might be seating incorrectly, could be a manufacturing defect. I've seen the ends ground incorrectly and cause noise or rubbing before. A sure way to check would pulling it off the shock and check if the coil stands level in all directions on both ends. If it's leaning it can cause issues and pressure points on the coil seats. Might try spraying that thing with silicon and if the noise goes away then you know it's the culprit.

There is a note on the Roush website that says:
Please note that for 2021-2023 trucks, adjusting the lower spring perch down by 5/8" of an inch on the strut shaft (towards the lower control arm) is necessary for proper suspension travel and improved ride quality.
Maybe?

Good deal, appreciate it. I'll mess with that and maybe message Fox as well to see what they say. Pain in the rear to take it off / all apart lol. I did compress the coils to adjust the bottom ring a bit before installing, maybe that shifted the coil a bit.

Appreciate it. I think that's b/c the coils for the newer trucks are lighter than the ones in this set. I actually adjusted mine up a bit (platinum powerboost w/ Max Tow, about as heavy and w/ as much rake as you can get lol) to get the rake out but maybe that's what unseated the one coil a little

Did you ever get this resolved? Mine is doing the exact same thing.
