Hey all,

Just picked up a 21 F150 Lariat for non-work driving to give my 99.5 7.3 a break. Truck came with 295/70/R18s and the speedo was 3mph low. Corrected tire diameter with forscan, then the speedo was 3mph high. I split the diameter difference and inputted that value. Now the speedo is spot on with GPS.
Initially, the transmission gears felt short and it was always changing like ADHD-ish on decide on a gear. Finishing first adjustment, gears felt overly long but it held them but speedo was high. With the final adjustment, it drives and shifts as I think it should, plus an actuate speedo.
So, Is the tire diameter value involved in anything more than the speedo calculation?
I’m just wanting to make sure inputting an approximated value to fix the speedo won’t cause another problem down the road. TIA and keep up the good posts!

You could clear the transmission adaptive tables.

I also found that the calculated measurement for tire size was inaccurate and adjusted based on GPS. As stated above, always reset the transmission tables when tweaking tire size or a DTC is in your near future.

Use Sparts tire size calculator. Follow his instructions to make the change in Forscan. Make sure you clear the DTCs while you are in there.
