as title said, I hate that the running boards retract when even parked (it will come out, but as soon as you lock it, it will retract).

is there a way to just leave it out?

If you have the toe button on the running boards you can use that to extend them after locking the truck. They'll still retract as usual when you return to the truck.

I often extend them when I'm concerned about possible dings from other car doors or shopping carts.

I think snake bitten nailed it. I haven’t tried it yet but there is a “constantly deployed” setting in the sync menus

hmm, I think I have it like that, but when locking the car, it will retract
I set mine to "Out" when I got home today. They are still out.
I went outside with the FOB and the approach lights lit up. They stayed out.
I locked the truck with the FOB.
They stayed out.

So far they are behaving as though the setting in Features is permanent, until I change them?

They will stay out until you drive the truck. Once you hit like 3mph they retract and that setting defaults back to auto.

I set them to ‘out’ in those settings when I do the car wash thing too. I don’t ever manually change it back to auto though, I just pull out of the car wash and the truck does it’s thing and that setting goes back to auto.

The toe kick thing while parked to avoid door dings is a great idea JustKeepTrucking. I never thought of that.

Today, once I drove the truck for an errand, the "out" setting reverted to Auto. So when I arrived at the store and locked the truck, they stowed.

So although setting the boards to "out" seems to work for the current key cycle, it appears it's not a permanent setting.
