Anyone know of an automatic way to get the running boards to stay down when the truck is locked?

It would be nice to have that ability for door ding protection from at least those that drive cars.

It’s not automatic but mine have a little spot that you can kick to deploy them. Wouldn’t be hard to make that a habit whenever you’re parked next to a car.

There is a setting in the centre screen to have the deployed. I think under vehicle settings.

Correct, but it'll revert back to "auto" next time you drive the truck. As far as I know, there's no way to keep them retracted while driving but extended when parked. I recorded feedback asking for this and it's possible that Ford could decide to add that option if given enough feedback for it, but I'm not holding my breath.

They will always retract when underway but - the shortcut to change setting is the kick button near the back of either board. When you get out your boards will be out. Push once they retract, again and they come back out. Now lock the truck. They will stay out and this will now be your default setting when stopped and locked. The button performs the same function as the centre screen setting so think of it as the quick access button to the same settings. I do this when washing the truck so I can clean them. Once done I push again and they change to default closed. I never bother finding the setting in the centre screen.
