In the APIM module, am I understanding Livnitup's spreadsheet correctly that I can hide the AM and FM audio sources? If so, maybe there's a reason not to hide AM, but I never listen to it. I rarely ever listen to FM. If I had neither I don't think I would miss them. Looking for any insight on this change. Doable? Bad idea?

My guess is the existence of this this bit is tied to either the fact that some vehicles no longer come with AM radio, or some arcane systems reason such as testing or because all audio sources can be enabled or disabled in the OS. I don’t know what the benefit to a *user* would be in disabling either AM or FM, beyond making it faster to change sources when cycling through them, by deleting the presence of some. I have no insight into what it might or might not impact, but I’d rate it as at best a “meh“ idea.

Think in terms of a local or national emergency. You might want to keep one or both for news and information.

I did think about the emergency line of thinking. Local weather conditions specifically. This is a point. I guess I might just try it and see what happens. Once you do one thing with FORScan, the next thing is easier. I'm fairly comfortable with it now. I can always reverse the change I suppose.

@oneinch Did you end up making this change? I’m considering looking into removing AM and XM if doable.

My question is what benefit would there be to hiding them. If you don’t use them then I guess I don’t see the reason.

Life is about the little things. Why cycle through things you don't use? Who listens to AM radio? Someone does, but I haven't in years. Decades really. 'Nuff said.

I guess. I don’t ever cycle thru. I just go to the screen and select what I want to listen to. You’re welcome to your opinion I was just curious as to what would be gained in hiding them. Guess I have my answer. ?

I use a Naviks video interface to watch a connected chromecast and regularly need to change the audio source when I can’t see the screen.

I also don’t like hearing the static of AM or the XM sales pitch when I am cycling through.

I chose to remove SiriusXM from my list of available sources because I hated being reminded of something I would never have.

SDARS SDARS HMI and DTCs Disabled and SDARSRP Non-SDARS Radio or Disabled, which are both in 7D0-01-01. It's the HMI that removes it from the screen I believe.

I have XM every time there is a trial. ?

Appears to be a change to try and see what happens. I wasn't aware of cycling through options. I guess I need to look at my buttons. Used to just tell truck by voice what audio I wanted in my 2011 and the sync lady took care of it. No button pushing required.

Physical button to cycle through audio sources. No need to change screens. Hiding unused options would be nice.
