I'm really just watching the current rate that the Hybrid battery is providing.
Battery in Volts, current in Amps, so easy enough to figure estimated watts.
And of course you know almost exactly when ICE is going to kick in and back off. Even FordPass couldn't tell you that.

Ah. Makes sense. So all you’ve really lost is the ability to turn the generator on and off remotely—a limited-value function anyway since you never could start the generator unless the truck was already running.

Although this is January 2022, I had used Bluetooth ProPower in 2021. But admittedly I don't know how much before that date. I got the truck in April of 2021 and immediately deployed ProPower for the RV that I live in.
It wasn't too long before I put FordPass through its paces.

Yea. How time flies. So "two or three months" before the opening post, I was using the extended Bluetooth functionality. Although I question my recall concerning being able to turn on generator mode from a remote start.
Seems I never came across anyone else who had ever done so. So I guess I hadn't either, unless it was possible for a very short period of time.

It's such a common sense approach to both the technology that already exists in the truck, as well as the use of the generator from an RV. It's far beyond that would just be a novelty.

Unfortunately, it’s all irrelevant now. Ford tossed it on the bone pile.

Every time I use Ford Pass I’m reminded that my truck was designed & built by “gear heads” NOT “tech geeks”.

I’m as old school as the come but I embrace the new technology whenever it’s relevant to my life and I CAN’T WAIT to sell my F150 (which I LOVE!) and get a Cybertruck.

The amazing technology Ford is running down the assembly line is SO WASTED on “legacy” minds… it’s really sad.

I want it ALL but that isn’t in the cards unless Tesla offers a V8 option for the Cybertruck or Ford stops outsourcing their software development to the lowest bidder, hires some hackers and tells their UAW engineers to “shut up and listen to these kids.”

I know iPhone app developers and they can't figure out how Ford is screwing this up so badly.

I'm not sure you invoking your association to guys who made "talking poop emojis" helps your post....

I'm not talking about the people at Apple who are apparently stuck at an early stage of human development. I'm talking about app developers who are paid to write apps similar to FordPass. They can't understand how these mistakes aren't caught before the app is released.

It would be different if I had "jail breaked" (jail broke?) my F150. But this is a digital environment totally under Ford's control.

Does it really matter? Not a lot. I didn't buy my F150 because of FordPass. I bought it to tow a trailer better than my Tacoma did. It bugs me, though, because this is a sign that Ford isn't giving their app development team enough support. What else is getting short-changed?

I know I was taking a dig at Crapple also ...
So much of this tech is new, gonna be lots of bugs.
I'm still wonderingnhownI blew out a shock under 10k miles...????
New tech is one thing but let's at least make old tech work!!!

I'd argue the blown shock has more in common to the software development quality issues.

They both are erring on the side of inve$tment cost control. That oem shock is $5 away from being a much better shock absorber!

My Ford Pass is not working properly at all. With the latest update, it is glitchy at best to connect to my phone. Sometimes it disconnects in mid sentence, and frequently I have to re-link it. It seems that Since the new update, it is not automatically linking to my phone, and if it does it sometimes takes 5-10 minutes to do so.

Ford, if you're going to sell these features, you have to make them work!

It’s more than just the FirdPass app or app development, and I don’t think it’s a lack of investment with one exception.
Software development is hard - major s/w development houses (think Apple, MSFT, any application you can think of) have been at it for decades and although they are getting much better, they are still not there.
The s/w development paradigm includes not only coding, but a thorough understanding of system architecture and design (which Ford has obviously not mastered when one considers the plethora of nodes scattered throughout the truck), the ability to manage s/w development, and skills in debug, and importantly s/w validation (in which Ford seems to be woefully lacking). Also important is configuration management.
Ford is woefully lacking in ALL these areas.
So all the guys saying, just hire a bunch of teenagers … NOPE! Not unless you believe in s/w dev, debug, testing and validation by hacking.
Back to investment - Ford needs to make MAJOR investments by hiring top flight software development gurus who understand all this stuff natively, and can translate it to an automotive environment. Not too long ago Ford hired an exec from Apple - a good step, but much more investment is needed. They also need to figure out how to modify its corporate development culture to accommodate complex software projects.
RANT -> off

First some of the FordPass functions stopped working. I get "not connected" when I try the trailer light check or zone lighting.

Now I'm getting a "Plugged In Not Charging" notification. My XLT is an EcoBoost. It's not plugged into anything right now. And FordPass just says, "Sorry, FordPass isn't responding. Please try again later." when I tap on the details button.

FordPass was kinda cute when I first bought the truck, but it's become pretty much useless in the last couple months. I know iPhone app developers and they can't figure out how Ford is screwing this up so badly. To quote Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no try."

Pete
I’m getting the same message in my Ford app and i don’t have an EV either. Definitely a bug or production error in their cloud services.
