I’m considering getting the Ford ESP extended warranty for my 2024 KR and adding the interior/exterior light warranty.
What are your experiences those
having this and how the dealers took care of your problem(s)?
What are the pros/cons you’ve experienced with the dealers with this added coverage?
Thanks

Haven’t personally but my father in law did on the front headlights. Not sure exactly what the issue was but no problem getting them replaced.

I just got my ESP and did the light add on for my 22.

I added it to my 2021 and was fortunate I did as the electronics on one of the tail lights went bad when I was outside the 3/36 warranty. I felt so fortunate I purchased the lighting warranty package that I also added it when I purchased the esp for the 2024.

Yes get the light coverage. If you buy from one of the online dealers (Grainger, Flood, Zeigler) you’ll have to ensure it is added as their default is to show the lowest price possible.

There are a number of adds that you can either take or leave. Do not skip on the LED light add on. In the overall cost for the ESP it is nothing compared to the cost of a light assembly.

Looks like having the interior/exterior light warranty is a good idea.

Has anyone had to use this after the original 3-year warranty?
What I mean in years 4, 5, 6 or more did the warranty still cover you (head lights) and the dealer not stating that NORMAL wear and tear disqualifies the warranty.
Thanks

It was $70 additional on my ESP. As noted, these lights are expensive. Haven't used it but sleep better knowing it's there.

If you're thinking in terms of the plastic headlight lens, note that the lighting coverage is only for electrical failures, not the cosmetics of the lens. All environmental / physical damage and cosmetic issues are explicitly excluded, not just relating to headlights.

Insofar as the bulbs / LEDs and associated electrical components, they are explicitly covered for the entire term of the contract when you opt for the lighting coverage.

the 21-23 standard lights on the xlt 501a larits have had problems but i have not seen any failures on the 24-25s yet.... but they could be too new... it was late last year that people start posting about failures in the early gen 14s lights

Is anyone familiar if Ford sells the ESP for lighting online? I have the ESP on my 21, but am thinking about the lighting warranty as well now?

Short answer: no, in my experience, you have to go through original sale vendor.

I bought my original Ford ESP at local dealer when I bought the truck. They basically matched online price for me during the negotiation phase when I said I can get it way cheaper online. I didn’t notice they deleted lighting option which was the same as online does it (hence my post above). When I realized it, I tried to add on lighting a few weeks later with the online vendors (it was ~$75 vs ~$150 at local dealer where I bought the warranty), the online vendor said they couldn’t help and that I had to go through the original selling vendor. I paid the local Ford dealer $150 and they processed it.

If you have my luck and don’t it, get you’ll regret you didn’t get It.

So, I did get and have piece of mind that post 3/36 I’ll never have an issue.

FYI, the ESP specifically excludes fogging in light assemblies.

This IS covered under the original 3/36 warranty.

If you are going to get the extended warranty, then definitely add the LED package.

My passenger side DRL failed on my 2021 after the initial warranty was up, and Ford covered the replacement of the entire assembly (the only way to fix it) for no charge because I had the LED add-on.

I have no clue if the 2024+ model years are more durable or not, as the design did change, but I pay pretty close attention to the other 2021-2023 trucks on the road, and the number of DRL failures are plentiful.
