When I mounted mine instead of cutting the tabs I cut slots in the cubby and used those to hold it in place and the acrylic trim piece on top sandwiches it in place so it doesn’t move around.
It is plug and play correct? Connector is the same?

Here is picture from the Etsy guy (ManionMakes) who is working on the Expedition model. This is a prototype and I think he is developing one like this and one with a cupholder. I like this one.

Now just have to make sure the connection plug is the same.

as others have mentioned i like this but would want the orientation reversed where the shifter was towards the dash and the cubby was closer to center console to put keys/phone

i'm intrigued the more and more i see this mod.

I have both an expedition knob and escape versions. Just waiting on my trim piece to get made for the expedition version with +/- on it!

When are you expecting the trim piece to be made by? I’m looking for the same trim piece. Is Ajzride making it for you or it’s getting made somewhere else?

Probably, but the only way to know for sure is to try.

I know everyone is excited for the expedition shifter, but @OleMustyBag is the only person to install one so far, so we dont know how all the different part numbers will work.

@OleMustyBag can you please confirm the exact part number you used?

The one I have at my house I haven't been able to plug in and test yet because it came in right before I had to leave on a business trip.
LL1P-7P155-OB with drive mode button (this one is currently installed in my truck and working)

LL1P-7P155-AD without drive mode button (I bought one of these and plan to test it and eventually use this or one from explorer)

You will still have to cut a hole in the bottom for the plug to come through, and find a way to make a top. It would be much easier to just get the 3D printed setup.

Are these different from the etsy? and will you post them here for viewing and comments?

They are different from the etsy guy, but accomplish the same goal. The Bronco Sport versions are linked in the first post. I'm just modifying the Bronco sport version to fit the Expedition shifter. The cupholder and gridfinity versions don't work with the Expedition, but I'm making the Charger version and the plain version. I'll also try to make a version with the charger in the front and the plain cubby in the rear.

wait, the drive mode button works?

yeah i know but it would look more OEM maybe? just would need something for the shifter to mount to and sit inside this cubby?

i still like what olemusty did the most.

Has anyone documented the proper removal of pieces and trims to remove the old shifter without breaking or damaging anything. I saw that the tools are a 7mm, 10mm, and pry tools...but WHAT is the process?

I have an Expedition shift knob in my hands and a '25 truck to try it on...I just want to make sure I understand the disassembly.

There is a pretty good YouTube video on it. It’s a video on how to replace the folding shifter.

  • Remove the trim above the APIM (radio). This pulls off using trim tools
  • Remove the trim below the APIM (radio). This runs from the start button to the passenger door. This pulls off using trim tools.
  • Remove the Trim on both sides of the console. These pull off using trim tools.
  • Use a 7mm to remove the 4 bolts holding the HVAC controls in place. You can unplug and remove the controls if you like, or just rotate them out of the way.
  • Remove the trim on top of the console, this pulls off using trim tools.
  • There are 4 x 10mm bolts holding the shifter in. One of them is in the bottom of the space the shifter folds into, the other 3 are visible after you remove the trim.

You only need the first half of this video.
