I swapped my factory 20's back on for the winter (removed the 22's). I fully expected the TPMS to reset after driving around for awhile, but no joy; the pressure readout on the dash remains unchanged and incorrect.

I pulled up the factory manual on the dash and it says to:

i) turn on power without starting engine;
ii) turn flashers on and off three times within ten seconds;
iii) deflate each tire until you hear the horn honk . . .
iv) re-inflate to correct pressure

Are you kidding me? There's got to be a simpler way to reset the TPMS system than this! Help, what's the simple solution here? TIA.

I swapped wheels last month with some OEM wheels and sensors. Within 5-7 miles of driving my truck recognized the new sensors. 24 F-150.

I've changed wheels a couple times now on my truck, using both OEM and aftermarket sensors. Each time the truck picked up the new set without having to do anything other than drive it. The longest I've ever seen it take a vehicle in general to pick up new sensors is around 20 miles at speeds up to 75mph. You may just need to drive a little farther or at higher speeds.

If that doesn't work you may be able to try a Ford TPMS19 trigger tool. I had to use one for a Mustang years ago but I can't remember the circumstances that led to it being necessary.

They already made it simpler. Before the most recent update the reset procedure worked only if performed by redhead virgin during full moon.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I don't have that tool in my toolbox. It is a special order. Very expensive. Really expensive, no, life threatening if the wife finds out.

TPMS work on a radio frequency. If the new and old TPMS are not the same frequency they can't communicate with the vehicle.

Any ideas on what what year spans use the same frequency in the TPMS?

Late 2023 and newer take 433MHz while early 2023 and older take 315MHz.

Just did the winter tire swap on my 2025 XLT and it just picked up the new TPMS's (Ford TPMSs) after a few kms of driving. Despite the manual saying you need to do that goofy button stuff.
