I just bought a 21 Lariat and went to set the door code and found that the code that pops up on the dash is not correct.

Luckily, the card was still in the glove box and had a code that worked.

I can see how the code on the card might be wrong if it got swapped by accident, but how does the truck display the wrong code when doing the key swap procedure to see it in the cluster?

Hmmm interesting. Haven’t checked but can the truck have different codes for different profiles?

Sure, but the factory code should still work no matter what user codes are set, right?

It's like the truck doesn't have the correct factory code in memory, but sorta does since the code on the card seems like the actual factory code.

I had the exact same problem with my 21. I worked with the selling dealer to no avail , pulled the kick panel by the drivers door but couldn’t see it there either. Due to another issue I had the module was replaced and I got a new card/code

I guess that module was replaced on this truck at some point before I got it. Just lucky I had the correct card. Is there any way to get the truck to recognize the new code?

Maybe apim is from another vehicle?
Iirc that's the module

If card works. Then you use it and set your personal code

Right, I was able to set my code. Just wondering if there's a way to get everything to show the right code.

It’s the module down in the passenger footwell by the door. Don’t remember what it’s called at the moment . Usually the code is on the module. If the factory code doesn’t work when you punch it in it isn’t matched to the module. A few people with 21s had this issue

I did look there and did not see the code on the module. Maybe I was looking at the wrong thing, but I didn't see any other stickers in that area. I also did not unbolt it to look on the back.

Luckily I had the correct card.

I don't see how that is possible. The code coded into truck that shows on screen should be correct. Might be some weird configuration issue with modules? ?
Ask for Rugedraw to PM you the history of truck. If there was warranty work done replacing parts it will be in Oasis.

If the code on the card works, and the one on the IPC doesn't, try setting your own code and then check again. What you might be seeing on the IPC is someone's entered code and not factory.

I thought the code was stored in the BCM. That is why the sticker is placed on that module.

Someone like Jesse would know if it is possible to have different code than what shows up on IPC. Doesn't make any sense to me.

But, the code from the cluster didn't work at all. If it were a user code, it should unlock the doors.

Likely the BCM was replaced.

Ive had someone actually have this exact issue before and they asked me what to do... I had them pull the code in FDRS. It pulled a completely different code. The code FDRS pulled was correct.

My guess as to why this happens is the original code is written into the IPC eprom and there is a bug in it that doesnt overwrite it when the IPC is replaced. I would have to test on the bench to verify this. That would be my GUESS though.
