A bit of a random topic but hear me out....

Baby seats are quickly approaching my near future so the appeal of a fun & loud 2-door is slowly transitioning into the desire for a fun & loud 4-door.

My current F150 Powerboost is amazing. Absolutely love this car and it does everything I ask of it but I wouldn't say it's a fun car. My track-focused Mustang is certainly fun but I wouldn't be able to share that fun with my child until they're old enough to sit in the front seat. This has brought me looking into fun cars with a back seat. For reference, my idea of fun would be screaming RWD V8's that can either carve corners or do hilarious power slides exiting corners....or both. I'm not an offroad guy.

My Google searches had me stumbling across this F150 Nitemare. Granted it also doesn't have a backseat so not baby seat friendly and therefore irrelevant for what I'm looking for but it had me thinking. This car looks like a hilariously good time. 700hp, RWD, V8, suspension that can allegedly handle corners, it looks fun.
Does anyone have an experience or knowledge on these cars? I read somewhere that Roush upgrades the power but does nothing for the transmission and driveline. Would this car be a ticking time bomb for something to break?

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
Between 2011 and 17 Chevrolet imported the Holden Caprice. It was a nice 4dr V8 Corvette engine primarily for the Police.......That sounds like your kind of car.

Alternatively, get a Supercharger added to a V8 F150. 700hp....

Ummm… you already have a ‘fun’ car that your little one doesn’t need to be in and a power boost that is easily the family car?

I don’t want to be obtuse but I’m not sure what the issue is. Does impending fatherhood mean you have to lose the fun car?

Truth is (for me anyway).. once you have kids the thought of hairing around with one of the most precious things in your world at high speed just doesn’t even occur.

I used to only go fast if I’m the only one in it and even then I saved it for the race track.

Had the supercharged LS1 (Holden), had the race car, had the stroked race engine pickup… then I had a son…

Once my son came along (and to this day) the war office reckons I drive like miss daisy…

Sorry if I sound like an old fart but life really is a series of stages and your priorities change accordingly…

cheers

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I have two baby seats in the back of my F150 Supercab. I also had two in my CTS V. Not sure of the question.

Seems somebody thinks that many of us strap a baby into a massively souped up vehicle and go on a hair raising adventure that, if not illegal, is nearly so and is most assuredly ill-advised for a small child who has no say in being part of the ride. Given that, we can recommend the best wild "car" to satisfy some less-than-mature desire to live life. However short it might be.

Can we stop calling F150s cars?
At least in my mind, every passenger vehicle with four wheels is a "car." They just come in different shapes and sizes.

almost 20 years ago, I bought a roadster (Miata).

People reacted with, "but you have four children!"

"My wife has a van."

Buying Roush trucks are by far the worst financial decision anyone can make.

Why? Roush isnt a legitimate trim or package as far as ANY trade in values are concerned. So when you buy your Roush truck off the lot from a dealer, that truck diminishes thousands in a day or two like every vehicle if you don't return it. On top of that, 90% of the total cost of Roush add ons, yes Off Road Package, Blowers, Suspension, etc, ANYTHING ROUSH, IS also lost.

Go on KBB or NADA and price put a used Roush truck. You get the values of the actual trim levels ie, XLT, Lariat Etc. You won't find Roush values.

In some very rare cases if you drive it long enough, you can allow the truck to depreciate while you pay it down and get closer to not being 1/3 upside down like you are when you buy new.

Ive had 2 Roush trucks and wasn't smart enough to learn my lesson the first time. I had a 2014 FX4 R570 amda. 2020 Nitemare SC. When buying the second (2020 Nitemare SC Lariat 502A) I really wanted it and said I'd keep it for awhile. I kept it for four years and found a dealer 900 miles away that took it for what I owed on it which was about $2K over what a regular Lariat 502A was valued at when i traded it for a new truck (not a Roush). Traded in it in TX for $42K with about 58k miles in Sept of 2024.

They make a beautiful truck, no doubt, they just don't hold their value. You're way better off lookimg at a pre-owned Shelby F150 but then be aware, sometimes Shelby warranties don't transfer to a second owner...

You will also deal with warranty issues. Dealer will say, oh, we have to see if Roush will over it in certain cases. Its a royal PITA.

As somebody who spent his early adulthood in high performance vehicles, I’ve been where the OP is. Keep the current F150 if you need a truck. For hauling youngsters with some performance, go German. An MB AMG E class, BMW M5, or Porsche Panamera Turbo. All amazing performers, and safe family cars. Think of them as an executive rocket.
