I'm sorry you got balled up in a situation like this -- particularly given your long history with Ford. I think it's mostly due to bad timing, getting caught in the sale of the old dealership. In any case, like you, I've been buying Ford products for a very long time. I have a 2024 KR and it's the best vehicle I've ever owned. I hope you can work this out and get your KR -- my bet is you won't be disappointed.
Good luck

Things have a way of working out. I am waiting for a price quote on 2025 KR from our new Ford dealership and another well known area dealership. Both have submitted initial prices that are a better deal than I would have had with the 2024. So thumbs up for local Ford dealerships and products. Still waiting for word from Ford. They definitely need to change the culture at headquarters.

From what I have been told my purchasing dealership, a family owned business for many years and my local family owned Ford dealership did not meet Ford's monthly requirement for sales and so Ford informed them to either sell or Ford would pull the franchise.
That makes sense. There is a dealership in Lewiston ID that has struggled with sales and therefore always had very small amounts of inventory. When I was looking for my truck, they had two Plats on the lot and wouldnt budge on the price... at all... I kept watching the trucks and both of them sat there for months... Greed over volume... :(

Did you see the link I put above for you? It has hundreds of KRs for sale, maybe yours is in there within a few hundred miles?

If you need help finding what you want, let me know I can help.

The dealership that purchased my selling dealership has been very accommodating and has offered me a great price on a new 2025. They did not cancel my previous order as they were as surprised as I was that my 2024 order was not in the system. This cancellation was all on Ford whom I still have not heard from.
Good to hear, best of luck if you follow through with buying a ‘25!

This thread is why I hate special orders. And when I put down a deposit in 2022 when nobody had anything on lots, I immediately started scanning local lots for an acceptable truck until one showed up. When it did about 2 months later I cancelled the first one and took it home. Somehow I was still getting emails from Ford like 6 months later saying they might get around to building it soon. I think the original dealer tried to keep the build for their inventory.

I bought acceptable trucks out of inventory for decades, they all served me acceptably, then I decided to try ordering my ideal truck, and I'm glad I did.

I love my ideal special order, chances of finding an exact match in inventory were zero, no regrets whatsoever.

Obviously, 'YMMV' and sometimes things go amiss (the OP has my sympathies for sure), but my special order F150 was delivered in 5.5-months (reasonable, IMO), equipped exactly as ordered, with no drama. I logged a total of 13 unsolicited email status updates from Ford between order and delivery. For me it was nothing but a good-news experience .

Hope all is progressing with the new truck purchase and your new dealer is able to locate or get a new one ordered with a price that's agreeable to you.

A good thing to remember about the Ford dealership vs Ford manufacturer relationship in regards to the end purchaser...the dealer is ultimately the manufacturer's customer...you are the dealer's customer. It's been this way for decades.

I don't think that that's so much the dealer "trying", but rather how Ford orders work.

I haven't read anything suggesting the a dealer can cancel an order. (maybe they can, but I haven't seen anything suggesting either that they can, or even that cancelling would even b e in their best interests. It appears that there are significant advantages to getting it this way instead of an inventory, related to how financing of orders works.)

2024 F150 Powerboost King Ranch
New to this site, but it looked interesting and informative. I have a situation I have never encountered before and wonder if anyone else has.

I ordered a new 2024 F150 King Ranch on March 3, 2024. Received confirmation email from Ford on March 17, 2024 with Order ID number and information that they would keep me updated with scheduled build date. The last update was September 24, 2024 (only the 2nd update) stating Ford was still processing the scheduled build date for my truck and that my patience is greatly appreciated. As Ford had stated in the initial email on March 17, they would continue to update me at least every 45 days. This is the first promise they failed to honor.

After returning from a vacation in early June I was informed by a friend of mine that when my truck arrived it would be delivered to my local Ford dealer as the dealership I had purchased the truck from had been sold. I was never contacted by Ford, the purchasing dealership, or the new dealership who had absorbed the inventory and commitments of my purchasing dealership. I contacted Ford via the web, was passed thru several departments only to be told they had no knowledge of what was transpiring among dealerships. I visited the local dealership in early June to get some information as to my status. I was informed that indeed they had been purchased by a new entity and had absorbed all inventory and commitments of my initial purchasing dealership. I showed the sales associate my purchase contract, she was surprised the selling dealership had given me a written trade in price at the time of sales as due to the long build times this is not normally done now I guess. She assured me she would check into this and get back to me. To date I have not heard from her again. Another first for me as far as Ford customer relations.

In September I received a call from a salesman at the new dealership who had purchased my selling dealership and the local Ford dealership. I thanked him for reaching out as he was the first Ford representative since I ordered the truck in March who had contacted me. Very professional, he said he had reviewed my purchase/build order and due to the change over to 2025 models in October there was a good possibility I might get a 2025 model. He would continue to keep me updated.

On November 13, 2024 I again contacted Ford Motor Company via the phone to check on the status of my build. After again being transferred to various departments I was connected with a representative in Marketing. He reviewed my Order number then told me my order had been bounced, no explanation given. I was told I would have to reorder a 2025. I immediately went to my new dealership salesman that had contacted me previously to inquire as to what was going on. He attempted to locate my build number in the system and could not locate it. He was very surprised at this as the dealership had not been informed either.

I hesitate to guess how long I might have had to wait before Ford saw fit to contact me. In all fairness I do not fault the new dealership for this situation, they have been very helpful with my potential purchase of a 2025 King Ranch. I am researching pricing at several dealerships. I apologize for this long story, but I have been buying Ford products ever since my first purchase of a 1959 Ford in 1965. I have never encountered such response from Ford or their dealerships in the past. Not a good way to build customer relationships or retain a long time customer.

Has anyone encountered a situation like this. Do I have any recourse against Ford?
I order my 2024 KR Powerboost in early May, I had to ping the dealer regularly on the status, they never reached out to me. During my regular pinging they informed me the truck was scheduled to be built September 9th. I checked back a week after the build date and the dealer confirmed the truck was built and was in Dearborn. Four weeks later it showed up on the dealer website as being on the lot and available, dealer informed me it is an automated system, it is not on the lot, it's an error and it would be removed shortly. I did go to the dealer to walk around looking for my truck but didn't locate it. Another 4 weeks later the dealer called (the only time) to inform me my truck would be on the delivery truck scheduled to arrive that day around 10 AM, I went to the dealer and shortly after 10 my truck arrived. Three days later I took delivery of my KR truck, 6 months after I ordered. During my conversation with the dealer he informed me it is common for FORD to cancel KR orders, he said if we order one we don't know if it will arrive or not, and we have to take the blame for FORD cancelling the order. He thinks FORD cancelling KR orders has something to do with supply chain issues, since the KR have unique features, seats, embroidered interior metal work, etc which are not on the other F150 models, and one of the reasons I wanted a KR. My dealership never took down my KR ad on their website until a week after I took deliver, I believe they left it posted to attract buyers to their dealership. Good luck in purchasing your KR it might involve some luck.

New 2025 KR on order since November 20th. Visited the new local Ford dealership who placed the order twice since then. I have inquired on both occasions (different salesclerks) as to the status of my order. Both times they replied, "I'll have to check into that and get back to you". To date I have heard nothing from Ford or the dealership. If I hadn't had such an enjoyable relationship with Ford since 1965 I'd be looking at another brand.

Very shortly after I ordered mine (the next day or two at most), I received an email message from Ford basically stating that I had an F150 on order. A number of people don't receive an email message, but I think most do. If you didn't get an email message, it could be something simple like the dealership entered your email address incorrectly, or the email message didn't go through for some reason. It could also mean the dealership messed up the order and you don't actually have an order. Ask them to show you the order in the system and have them show you that Ford has accepted the order. Make sure they have your correct email address. Ford will have accepted or rejected the order very quickly.

Once your order is in the system, you will hear very little from Ford. My order was placed during Covid, so the supply chain was a mess, but in the 11 months it took me to get my F150, I heard from Ford 3 or 4 times. I heard almost nothing until it was schedule for production about 9 months after I placed the order.

I think the issues you are having are almost certainly the dealerships you have been working with and not Ford. If the dealerships you have worked with would have done their job, you wouldn't have had a problem.

Here’s what I recommend for better tracking your ordered truck (and yes, I completely agree that we shouldn’t have to figure this out ourselves!):

  1. Contact Ford Chat
Visit Ford Chat every Thursday or Friday (Ford seems to update their system on Thursdays). Politely ask if your VIN has been assigned.
  2. Track Your Status on Ford’s Website
Once you have a VIN, you can use Ford’s website to track major milestones for your truck, such as when your build week is assigned, when the build starts, when it’s completed, and so on.
  3. Request VinView Updates from Your Dealer
Reach out to your dealer and ask them to sign your email up for automatic updates from their VinView system. You might want to explain that this will save them time answering your calls or visits for status updates. VinView provides MUCH more detailed information than Ford’s website, offering a more realistic picture of your truck’s progress from order to build to transport.
Here’s an example of the level of detail VinView provides:

I received an email the day I ordered my truck- 4/20, a Saturday.

I never heard from Ford again until they told me my truck was on its way in August.
