My office parking lot has a new Tundra iForce Max Platinum 4x4 in white. First thought was how narrow the bed looks. 6.5 inches more narrow than my PB according to google. The grill looks like it ate Tokyo and the oem tires are 265/60r20 while mine are 275. Suspension looks like it might be more off road than load haul designed. Nice truck, but not enough to swap lol

They are slow too, their hybrid posts slower 0-60 and 1/4 mile times than all the 5.0, regular 3.5 EB, and PowerBoost Fords in SCREW configuration. That 3.5 IForce also underperforms on the dyno and it appears the power numbers are inflated. Fords engines are typically underrated by contrast. For example, the 5.0 V8 puts more torque down to the wheel on a dyno than the iForce 3.5 does on 93 octane. Typical E-85 reading for torque at the wheels on a 5.0 is 400-415 lb ft, typical tundra wheel torque reading is 375-380 lb ft, yet they claim 479 lb ft at the crank. Considering how bad the 3.5 iForce was spanked by the 6.2 GM and 5.0 Ford in a few races I’ve seen, that motor is a dud. The 3.5 EcoBoost plain destroyed it in the run I saw. Then again, the EcoBoost isn’t using made up numbers from fairytale land like Toyota seems to be doing.

They also have a bad rap of blowing up all ready stock, so tuning is not a good idea as the main bearings are all ready being run the the cusp of their power holding capabilities. Just not a good package imo.

Weird how in the States you can get option packages on trims. Like an SR5 you can add tow mirrors or a tech pkg to get the 14" screen. Not so in Canada. Each trim only comes one way. One of the reason I canceled my deal and went with the Ford.
Payload and only being able to get a 3:31 axle ration didn't help either. Plus the bs required subscription that would be required to use the remote start.... ON MY KEY FOB! Not even talking about the app to use remote start. It was going to be an extra fee to use the key fob remote start after the trial expired. BS!

I looked at the Tundra and bought a F-150 in 2022 instead. The Tundra does not provide a locking rear differential or a larger gas tank and the tailgate is terrible for access to the bed. With Toyota all you get is anti-spin where the brakes are applied to faster spinning wheel which is better than nothing but nowhere near as effective as a limited slip differential and neither compare favorably to a true locking differential.

I have had pickups where I could add a small step at the rear corner and get up and back down from the bed but the bodywork gets in the way on the new Tundra. The Ford and Ram options for the rear tailgate are excellent, even if the Ram one costs $2,000 with the packages required.

The King Ranch wannabe turned my head once I’ll admit. 1794 or some year something happened near San Antonio.

I really think you bumped this for a little nostalgia.

Actually I really dislike the lack of a flat floor in the tundra, it’s a terrible design once you put the rear seats up. Can’t put a dog back there or anything else where you want a large flat space.

There's many design issues with the tundra, most of which have already been mentioned with the bed and the rear floor and tailgate. The front and rear lights are hideous. The general body lines look like chat gpt made a yeezy truck- just fuk ugly. The engine underperforms, which is insult to injury being as I think they spec premium fuel like the fj and new land cruiser Prado. I didn't love the last gen, but it was significantly better than this current gen. My parents seriously considered a 2024 1876 or whatever it's called and really liked it until they started shopping around and looking into specs. They ended with a 3.5 Lariat sport high in chilipepper orange.

The ram is just okay. I wouldn't be opposed to a base model. I drove over 500 miles in a top trim etorque ram and didn't like the engine, horrible infotainment, button positioning, fuel efficiency, or interior design styling with some ridiculous curves and soft swooping lines. The e torque was very responsive, but slow and labored all the while only getting me 22mpg when feathering it hard on the highway. By contrast, I just did 470 miles in my 2.7 through crazy NE wind and snow decently loaded and got 23.8mpg hand calculated. The adjustable air suspension is a cool party trick, but drives like crap unless you're on the lowest setting. That said, I would generally keep it in the lowest setting and when it's there, it legit drove better than any truck I've ever been in and actually very good for any vehicle.

I had a 2nd gen Tundra and boy did that mileage suck. 13-15 on the regular. I can drive the PB like a madman and still get better mileage. It was an easy purchase at the time, 400hp, 6 speed w/ a 4.30. F150 was still a 300hp 4 speed truck. It was a lot of fun. Current styling is way over the top. Factory backup cam was awesome, at the time with its cute little screen.

I went from a Tacoma to a F150 Powerboost.

Many people asked why I naturally didn’t go from a Tacoma to a Tundra.
1. The Tundra iForceMax hybrid is slower and gets worst gas mileage than the F150.
2. I like the styling of the F150 more than the Tundra. I can’t stand how the back end looks on the Tundra.
3. The F150 has a flat floor in the rear and the Tundra still has a hump.
4. The Tundra has engine failure issues however the F150 has issues with the 10R80 transmission so it’s kind of a wash there.

With that being said the Toyota’s 4 wheel drive system is still superior to Ford’s. For example Toyota’s ATRAC system can help claw the vehicle that is stuck in sand while other manufacturers 4 wheel drive systems just digs you deeper into the hole.

When shopping for a truck in the only standard trucks with electronic locking differentials were from Ford or Ram. With Toyota as with GM/Chevy all they offer is "anti-spin" which is the same as traction control on 2WD vehicles where the brakes are applied to the faster spinning wheel.

A friend has a 2023 Tundra and he averages 20-22 mpg unless he is towing his Airstream trailer.

Doing more research on the 2024 Tundra models and most come with a 22.0 gal fuel tank and so their range is about 350 miles. The SR5 Limited and their 1794 and TRD models do have the 32-gal fuel tank.

I wouldn't buy a Tundra not much on foreign vehicles. I did like the Rams but couldn't get past the turn knob for a gear selector. Did look at the Chevy but went with the F-150 instead. The Ford has more power and doesn't seem to have the problems with the vvt like Chevy. I've always been a Ford person anyways since I was younger. Toyota was never a thought when I bought my truck. The new body style just doesn't look good, and dropping the v8 was probably not a good idea on their part.

The tundra is an American truck (designed and built). Japan has shrinking demographics and have long-ago moved to trying to build where they sell as much as possible.

Toyota vehicle have the most made in America content of any vehicle sold in the USA today. Most people are not old enough to realize that starting with Reagan the American manufacturers were actively encouraged to move their factories out of the USA. It was a very successful effort to kill the unions by the nation's political elites. It is why workers wages have been stagnant for the past 40 years.

It's amazing just how many foreign companies moved plants here for our market while US manufactures sent everything south of the border. My mach-e is a mexican car.
