Some people will over look this as an STX package but not many know that this is gonna get 4A from the lariat trim
If that's true that it's the Lariat case, it's not even the "good" 4A transfer case for guys wanting to throw some power at it.

It's funny seeing Ford officially make an F-150 Lobo trim, since I regularly see Lobo trucks from Mexico driving around here. I want to see a Lobo Lobo now.

Are you talking about the Hi lock case? The TOD is better for on road performance use. It's a bad idea to run around on pavement with a locked transfer case. Lobo is a 'street' truck.

Yes, I'm talking about the Hi-Lock case.

The Hi-Lock *IS* a TOD case, for "street" use...but also has a dog-gear locked 4-Hi for launches on sticky tires at the drag-strip, where the "regular" TOD case just applies the clutches at full-pressure in 4-HI, which can slip when a lot of power is applied.

Literally the best of both worlds.

Also, thank you for pointing out that the Lobo is a "street" truck. That escaped me, despite all the hype and marketing. *eyeroll*

Escalade V puts 670 HP through a clutch based system just fine. The ESOF AND hi-lock are better in off-road or plowing scenarios where the constant use and back and forth wears on the clutches and or where the clutches may be overloaded. Clutch based is fine for a street truck with power. That front axle isn’t trying to push 3,000 pounds of wet snow, even 700 horsepower isn’t hitting that level of stress that a stock 5.0 plow truck will be pushing against.

I would argue the ESOF base system is most important in 4-Low not high, this is where the gigantic torque multiplier will slip the clutches on the TOD Lariat case pushing big weight, and hence why a Lariat optioned with the plow prep reverts to the base ESOF case and deletes the TOD case.
