Call Granger and talk to them... they will answer all your question ...this I would do.
I will, but I am also curious to hear from actual consumers who have purchased these and have the experience of making this decision... You know, the point of a forum..

Do you feel it is more beneficial to wait and buy the ESP after a couple years of ownership?? Opposed to getting it at the time of purchase?

The benefit of waiting is only if you are undecided about keeping the truck past 5 years/36k miles or so. This could be due to mechanical issues, you don't know if you will like a bigger truck, etc. The downside is that you will probably pay more for the ESP when you do decide you are keeping the truck.

If you wait a year to decide you like the truck and want to keep it (hopefully) for 10 years/100k miles or so, you will only add maybe 10% onto the cost for the ESP. $200 - $300 may not matter and that might be acceptable for "piece of mind" but you do you.

If you do get one get the top level Premium Care and LED lights at least. Good luck.

WHICH PLAN TO SELECT??
I guess i'm wondering if it is necessary to go with the Premium Care option? Is EVERYTHING covered within that??
Just FYI, you can read the actual contract describing coverage provisions under each plan type at this post. Somewhat dated but I don't believe that the substantive coverage provisions of the Ford ESP contract types has changed.

PremiumCare uses the approach of covering everything except those items specifically designated as excluded; all other plans use the totally different approach of covering only components specifically designated as included. That's a huge difference, IMO, with the latter being fraught with risk of 'unpleasant surprise' if / when a problem arises and is diagnosed.

Insofar as a choice, all I can recommend is that you read the contract at the post linked above carefully to help make a best-informed decision based on your personal risk tolerance.

For me, albeit the price was higher, PremiumCare was the choice. YMMV.

Good Luck!

Ive pretty much decided on either the Premium Care 10yr - 100k with $50 deductible, or the Prem Care 10yr - 125k with $50 deduct... I have two vehicles and drive my commuter to work every day so do not need a high mileage warranty.

I will opt for the LED lights for sure... maybe the key service??

Q - Does this Prem Care ESP mimic the 3yr - 36k bumper to bumper manufacturer warranty that comes with the new purchase? Or is it better or worse?

If it is overall better coverage than the manufacturer bumper to bumper, that would be another reason to purchase the ESP sooner. Otherwise I like your strategy of waiting a year or so to confirm there isn't any reason i'd want to move on from the truck.

The ESP (even Premiumcare) coverage is not identical to the original 3/36 B-to-B coverage. The latter includes some 'component adjustment' items and even a few 'wear items' which are not covered by an ESP.

Gentle / polite suggestion - if you take break from posting to carefully read that linked contract it's likely many of your questions will be answered.

Thank you.

I did take a peek at that linked contract. It is quite the document so I will need to designate some time to look at it closer and try to pull out the answers to the questions I have. But even if I am able to do that, I will still wonder if that contract written at that time is still 100% valid on todays date.

Also, Im not afraid to admit that its easier to post questions and get real-time answers from current consumers.. haha Thats what is so great about a forum. I will do my own research and then combine that with what I can gather on here.

Thanks again!

Take a look at that Granger price spreadsheet for the different options. If I remember correctly you take a somewhat larger jump in price over 100k miles. The difference between a 85K mile ESP to a 100k mile ESP is almost nothing but jump up from 100k to 125k or 150k and they hit you significantly harder on price.

For a normal driver with 10k to 14k miles a year the bump up to 10 year 125K makes all the sense in the world, but for drivers of less miles per year, the 100k is the sweet spot price wise. Or at least it used to be. You will run out the years long before the miles so you can save some if that matters.

For the key option I did not get it and went to a third party key fob dealer and bought a 3rd key. $100. Programming it yourself is easy if you follow the steps and have both original keys (2 keys). I did not have the manual emergency key in the fob cut but all other functions are perfect. I use this key to give to a shop or vendor if I drop off the truck.

The key is knowing your true average mileage. Looking at our last three vehicles, we averaged about 11k per year. Two were at 10k and the other was 12k/year over the years of ownership. We've also had either two or three vehicles at a time. When we got the truck in 2021, we went with the 8y/100k 0 ded to hedge we would put 12k per year. So far, we've been slightly under 11k/yr on the truck. So we're possibly going to run out of years before miles on the ESP, which I think is more favorable than running out of miles before years. When we got the 2025 Explorer last September, still did the 8yr/100k but with a 100 ded. We're down to just these two now and will be for some time, so we'll see how things progress next few years.

Great idea for the Key option. I assume your aftermarket key from the third party has no issues utilizing remote start?

Going to work.
I just traded in my 21 Lariat for a 25 King Ranch Powerboost. I presented the online quote for the Preamium Care and maintenance plan to the local dealer and after 20 minutes of them complaining, they finally agreed to match it. Otherwise I would have puchashed online.

Good work. Those F&I folks make $200k year. I do not feel the least bit bad about them "complaining."

Most dealers slut out the sale of the vehicle on the front end (costing the sales person all the money - and not caring the least bit about it) with the hopes of F&I selling all kinds of stuff in the back office. Which they are good at doing. They make big $$.

This is why I am so much impressed with Granger. When I first heard about the 4% below invoice deal I assumed that was their strategy. Give a great deal on the front end and recoup the lost value in the back. But nope, they provide the best deal on that side too.

@Granger Ford can you guys clarify the price hike at 60,000 miles? I ask because Ziegler quoted me 1805.00 for 60/60 powertrain coverage. Granger was around 3000.00. She said you up charge plans after 60,000 miles.
I bought my truck from you, and I’d like to keep shoving money your way. Any chance you can help?
