Extended length running boards manufacturer or other solution?

Hi all

I am chasing a solution to the enable stepping up to the bed via either an extended length running board or some other solution. I'm a builder, I'm 6' and reaching the front of the bed requires a ladder or climbing up onto the bed. Frustrating as most of my tools are only an inch or two out of my reach.

I've looked the longer boards up on Ford Parts and if I'm reading it correctly I'm up for approx $1300 to swap mine out. I have the 6inch chrome running boards.

Does anyone know who the manufacturer is or can offer a solution such as another cheaper version or separate piece that attachs to the bed (eg a single step) at the side?

Also there’s companies making full length, frame mounted rock sliders which can double as full length running boards and also offer some protection against door dings depending on design.

I will open my door and step on the sill plate to get better access to the very front of the bed, or step on the tire to get to the back but that can be tiring if you do it a lot. Also, be careful not to stick your fingers in the stake pockets or anywhere else that they can become trapped; since if you lose your balance and a finger gets stuck, it can get torn off or degloved (especially if you wear a ring).

Also wishing I ordered the 6" extended boards. I overlooked that option when ordering.

I'm wondering if it's just a longer extension that can be exchanged with the shorter rubber /plastic part at the rear
? Or is it actually a longer board under the step pad?

(I know it's a Super Duty, but best shot I could find for what I was talking about)

My Lariat came with extended and they look to be a single piece design. I do not think you can add any extension. I will say that the Ford OEM ones are pretty nice. They are fairly robust and after almost a year still look new. I can see why they are so expensive compared to many of the aftermarket ones.

Yeah, maybe it isn't someting that can be added.

mine are extended and have the switch at the end to deploy them from outside

I would NOT recommend the Bedstep 2. I just put them on my truck and if you have anything larger than ballerina feet you can't get your foot on it to deploy, they are too tight to the body.
