Hi All,
Going to the dealer to order a ‘22 SCREW 302A 5.5’ bed this afternoon. The last two options I have to decide on either extended chrome running boards and 18 or 20 inch wheels.

do people with the extended running boards find them useful with the short bed? Have any heavier guys had an issue with using them?I’m assuming they are just cantilevered and don’t have extra support brackets.
Aside from aesthetics any pros/cons to the 18” or 20” wheels?
Thanks,
Jim

I have the extended running boards on my truck. Didn't necessarily spec them myself or seek them out, just so happened the truck I found had them as an option. I think they look okay, and they do provide a little bit of extra function for reaching into the bed.

As for 20in vs 18in, kind of just depends on what you want to do with the truck and what looks best to you. With 18s, you get more side wall, so theoretically a little more protection off road, maybe a little more compliant ride, and 18in tires are generally a little cheaper for a given OD. The 20s do fill the wheel-well a little better in factory form, and there are still plenty of aftermarket tire options that work with 20s. Overall I'm pleased with the 20s on my truck.

I have the extended boards and I actually find them pretty dang useful. Really helps when tieing an ATV or Dirt bike down, and when drying off the rear glass after a wash. I'm about 230lbs and they seem sturdy as hell to me. They just happened to be in the truck I bought off the lot and honestly they have really grown on me. I think they look great to.
