There's nothing you can add to a properly formulated oil to do anything other than harm its performance.

Was a time when MOS2 was going to make your engine run forever according to BITOG.

In my younger days I had some luck with some leak stop additive to get a leaky head gasket to time for me to actually replace said gasket, but that's a different conversation.

The 'best' anti-deposit oil is the restore and protect oil from valvoline.

Just came across another vid talking about engine wear and all of the papers for several decades have basically said the same thing. Cylinders are THE wear spot, and the condition that exacerbates wear the most is engine not up to temp.

The next evolution in oil tech will come with the new GF7 oil standard that will start showing up this year that focuses on improved shear stability particularly for chain driven cams. Also showing up are GPFs, the gasoline version of DPFs complete with regen cycles. Though gas engines have higher EGTs, I'm sure it's going to be just as much fun as DPFs are.

Diesel engines are vastly different from gas engines. 25% of a gallon of diesel motor oil consists of additives to prolong the life of the engine components. The additive mix is what makes Red Line and Pennzoil so much better than the diesel motor oil from Amsoil and Wal-Mart.

Go back and read all the articles in 2016 about the new motor oils being formulated and tested for the new engines to be introduced in 2017. With all the millions of dollars spent and alll the engineers involved it is crazy to think that some small company's snake oil is going to provide any real benefits.

Want to have your engine last longer then avoid short trips where it does not have time to reach operating temperature. I group four or more errands into a single outing to avoid this problem.

No, they're not actually that different. You'll find quite a few oils like mobil 1 and similar are cert'd for diesels as well. Diesel's biggest issue is the amount of soot that ends up in the oil. There's $$ filter add ons to help filter it out, prolonging its life.
