Exhaust Resonator (Pre-muffler) Rattle

Factionfab and I have talked alot lately.
Ordered their 145" resonator delete for my 21 Supercab.
Installing it....it has become clear it's not exactly long enough.
There's very little pipe for it to go over.
I've resorted to another clamp to fix.....and it sort of has.
They say it's the correct length.....ok
Slight exhaust leak still.
Pic shows how far back it is compared to where the stock piece sat.
Supercab resonator piece longer?
They literally have no clue.....initially saying no way your truck is 145".

I s their product engineer perhaps cross eyed & using a faulty tape measurer? ?

I'd post some of their email replies but it was just pathetic.
The supercab does measure longer than 145" on my tape measure....but I'd be shocked if the resonator piece is longer.
They never measured an actual supercab piece tho.
Anything online states 145" wheelbase for a Supercab 6.5ft box.
All I know is the piece I got needs to be another 2" longer..

If your resonator delete pipe measures 40" in length, it's the same length as the one that fit my 2021 3.5EB CCSB that was built with resonator ML3Z-5A212-C (now superseded by ML3Z-5A212-Z).

Looking up the resonator by VIN, a 2021 3.5EB F150 Supercab 6.5' takes the same ML3Z-5A212-Z resonator that my truck takes.

Are you sure that your exhaust system is pushed forward all the way? The flex pipe can extend or compress from its resting position by an inch with little effort. Have you tried sliding the resonator delete pipe into the proper position on the cat-back, tightening the clamp, and then tightening the bolted connection?

I've tried it....flex pipe doesn't move much on mine.
I'll be under there again next set of days off to see what I can accomplish.

Just got mine back from second trip to the dealership for this issue. First time they said it was the turbo waste gate (??). This time they found he sound coming from "catalyst converter flex pipe". They loosened all catalytic converter bolts, neutralized exhaust and retightened. "Retest OK after repair". Still have the noise... At least I got the recalls done (and a free set of wiper blades) and my axle bolts are fine for now.

I have the same issue, since new. Close the door and it rattles. Drop the tailgate, rattle. "Dealer could not reproduce". Is there a tsb or anything?

YES it does it every time I close the door. Glad im not going crazy. lol

I had this exact same issue as well, every time I closed the door I heard the rattle. I ended up doing a Faction Fab resonator delete to fix it. IMO its as good as the 3.5 can sound without being obnoxious inside/outside.

Resonator delete got rid of my cold start rattle, and the door closing rattle.

I finally got around to installing the Faction Fab resonator delete. Rattle problem solved and it's got a nice tone, especially when cold starting. 10/10 would recommend.

Are you guys cutting off the locator/lock nub on the muffler end of the oem exhaust so you can fully slide the faction fab pipe on? Or are you all just living with the exhaust leak? Or have you not felt around the pipe with the truck running and felt the exhaust leak? Popped my delete pipe on today and decided to sawzall off the nub like I saw on a YouTube video. This allowed me to slide the exhaust farther into the delete pipe. Havent seen anyone mention this in this thread. ?

Crazy that Ford hasn’t fixed this yet. I have a 25 Lariat 3.5 with the same issue - rattle when shutting any of the doors after the truck is hot. Only 1500 miles on it.

Looks like the faction fab for 145” wb isn’t currently available. Are there any other bolt on options?

Also, for the stock resonator, is there a flapper in there or something? In addition to the rattle when shutting door, I can hear a squeak when giving a quick throttle blip or as the rpm’s come down from a cold start. Makes me think there’s something intentionally moving in there that’s causing the issue.

its the perfect tone IMHO with the OEM dual exhaust. I'd love to make it louder but i know how risky that is with a v6
