Engine hissing noise

I have a high pitch hissing noise that’s particularly annoying on my 3.5 EB, happens both when accelerating and decelerating particularly noticeable at slow speed. Happens in both 2H and 4H, and the frequency seems to vary a little bit when it shifts gear. See attached video. Anybody knows what it could be?

Because it’s a high frequency and high frequencies are very directional you will hear much better if putting the hear close to the speaker.

Mine too, not when cold or at operating temp, but if the temp gauge reads 206F then I will hear it. Sound is louder in a parking garage/confined space. Only around 1600 RPM.

Sounds like a whiny alternator.

I got 2021 platinum powerboot same noise and dealer tested and found transmission problems. Unable to repair. Replace only and they ordered new transmission for my truck. My truck is 119,000 miles on it.

On a PB you can hear the electric drive motor and transmission noises w/out the ICE drowning it out. Sounds like yours was on its way out if they're replacing the trans.

After a week at the dealership they concluded the transmission needs to be changed completely. They are performing the change now. Very disappointing that a 2023 with 10,000 miles needs a brand new transmission to be honest, but at least it confirms the whine wasn’t normal at all.

I hear those are complex to install and need proper alignment and calibration. Since the dealer has screwed up easy stuff on my cars previously (such as not remounting speaker correctly, or not rotating the tires correctly), I am now stressed that they won’t do a great job of mounting the new transmission properly…

Transmission was finally changed for a brand new one under warranty. They recognized it was faulty. Noise is completely gone.

If your F-150 makes the same whine as this video, get your transmission changed, it’s definitely not normal.
