Knowledge Manager, use PB as my office.
So more on the story, problem is happening again now with the P0A1E code. Truck fails to return to hybrid mode. The Dealer said there is now a TSB on this, but I didn't get a chance to ask which one. Anyways, they said it was related to the AGM battery. They had reset something and was charging the battery to test. I took it home (a few miles away) and put it on charge with a smart charger and connected the negative cable to the frame. By morning it was reading Full. A week goes by and I get the same problem again. The dealer did say that if this was not a fix, then it was a deeper issue. I am literally 8100k from being out of warranty. I will be calling ford asking them to extend the warranty for this issue that they can't seem to fix! Does anyone have an idea on how to make the dealer pull out the parts cannon and fire away under warranty?

I was getting this DTC today after performing a bunch of updates. I tried to clear it a few times and it wouldn’t go away. Where I still had an active FDRS license, I ran a PMI on the PCM and it seems to have resolved the issue for me.

My 2012 F150 has 7 modules.
My 2022 has 47

It's crazy when you think about it.
It's important to remember that the truck "never" turns off. The central computer is always running, if at a very low current draw. So these modules are really just "checking in" before "breakfast." ...And you know, if they didn't get their cup of coffee, they'll pitch a fit! :)

I’m heartbroken. Had check engine light come on not once but twice after spending a fortune taking Alaska ferry to Ketchikan. I was totally reliant on truck for camper power . There are zero campgrounds with hookups there. Stupid me to think I could rely on my 2022 power boost. It was idling nonstop without cycling thru charge and then shutting down. Went to two mechanics who did pulled codes and did some research and they advised me to return to Bellingham WA bc risk of not being able to get return trip from inner passage Alaska. Not only did it cost me the long ferry ride back rather than taking my planned shorter legs to then drive thru Canada to mainland Alaska… I was out an expensive excursion to Glacier Bay NP. I realize —very much a first world problem but I pretty much lost $3,000 in a trip bc of a faulty check engine light. I have an appointment with Bellingham Ford but theyve already said they’ll do nothing if check engine doesn’t come back on. This is ridiculous to me bc the code history IS there and it happened twice in a week. Now I feel that #1 - I can’t afford to continue my trip and #2 - cant rely on my truck to even consider continuing my trip and #3 -wonder if I’ll even trust it to get back to FL.
$953 truck payment to get stranded in Alaska ?

Did you see the codes yourself?
A check engine light is rather generic and could have been anything ranging from minor to risky to ignore.

Alrighty- new guy to the forum. How goes it everyone?

2022 Powerboost Lariat, 50,000 miles

New cats at 35k after a cleaning of them first. Looks like I was an early adapter of this latest recall.

Got the wrench about a month ago. Hybrid kicks off. Cycle Off/on a few times, it goes away. Month later it’s back. Scanner shows no codes. Jump a few steps, buy a new 12v AGM battery. Two days no problem, third day wrench comes back and hybrid kicks out once. Off/on, wrench disappears on the second cycle. Upgrade to a new scanner (my 20 year old one didn’t pick up any codes)- new scanner throws P01AE:28. Geek out on the internet, download TSB’s and the shop manual. Run the pinpoint test G. Torque all of the battery connections (both batteries). Nothing lose, but I tightened the hell out of them to be safe. Two days, no codes, keeping my fingers crossed I had a weak 12v motorcraft, and didn’t tighten up the battery monitor on the negative post enough.

I was definitely noticing a lazy start cycle from either the BISG or the high voltage motor when moving along on electric and the ICE kicked in. It was kinda like a “whomp” and the vehicle hesitated as the ICE wound up. Leads me to think I had a weak 12v battery, but I’m lacking the tester to give it the stress test. The hesitation has gone away since I changed the battery.

Also, noticed before it throws the wrench, I’m usually stopped, and the conventional starter kicks in. Weird to hear that in use!

If the code comes back I’m deciding between taking the post turbo intake air feed line so I can check the torque on that darned BISG connection, or B, give up an take it to the dealer. No fun accessing things on this truck!

I hate giving my truck up during hunting season. Fingers crossed.

So this has started happening to me.

had the truck at a shop getting wheels/tires/6612s installed. On the way home from the shop got the error, service electrical system soon.

Went back to the shop and asked them what they did, if anything with battery. No real story but maybe they left the truck “on” the whole time they were working on it?

I drove it a good distance, did the BSM reset trick and it went away. Has come back a few times since though. The other day I was at a stop light, went to take off and it lurched hard. Wouldn’t go electric and I was getting all kinds of vibrations in 9th gear 1.8krpm. Was scary. Got to my destination, did some work, truck was totally fine the way home.

Has now been popping up with the Service Vehicle Soon.

started up the OBD this morning but not sure what I’m looking at with SOC and hybrid battery numbers while driving. Need to read more on the topic.

I want to take it to Ford but I’m busy as shit, I can’t afford any time without my truck. Wheels and tires time was a disaster in its own right.

Thinking I should trickle charge both batteries, do BSM reset and then see if it’s fixed?

I know Davexxx has a post on this but wasn’t sure if exactly related since I’m getting Generator/Ignition related error.

appreciate any input.

I just experienced the same code and symptoms. Brought it to the dealer and they replaced the BISG and during the test drive the wrench light came back on. So they did a pcm update and during the test drive the wrench light came back on. Then they replaced the battery isolator and that seemed to keep the wrench light off but for how long that will be the true test.

Mine threw this code today. Took it through the car wash, something I've done hundreds of times with no issue and on the way home I noticed the truck refusing to go into EV mode when driving or when coming to a stop. It's randomly done this a couple times before a long time ago but never after a bath. Got home shut it off and realized I needed to move it over some and that's when the service engine soon appeard in the cluster. Checked the DTCs and several DTE P0A1E-00 codes present. Cleared the codes and took it for a test drive, went back through the car wash and cycled the truck off/on several times to see if it would return but it's back to normal.

Based off your post I looked up the isolator and it's relatively cheap at just $65 and looks to be a 10 min or so fix so I'll be ordering one of these and will replace it if the issue returns. Circuit Breaker - Ford (ML3Z-14526-B) is the current part nubner for the 21-25 PB's which looks to be a revision for an earler part.
