Has anyone else run into this. My driver side mirror won't close when I lock the door. I can hear it try but it stays open. The passenger side closes.

Now if I get in the truck and press the button it closes fine.

Because of this and the fact I e enabled Lincoln auto fold, when I get I nthe truck it does. It open the passenger side when I close my door. So I hit the button, the driver's side closes then I have to press it again to open both.

Just started today. When I get home I'll see if disabling the Lincoln autofold "fixes" it, but just odd that it started happening and they ot works with the button on the inside.

Ok, so I had a 4x6 in the bed with the tailgate open....as soon as I took it out and closed the tailgate, it started working again.

Seems like a weird "feature".

I have found when you have any door ajar (even slightly) or the tail gate, the mirrors won't retract. Not sure why they did that (the doors still lock). But I use it as a signal/reminder to me that something is not shut completely.

Yeah so I've seen that, but this time the passenger side was closing. I've only seen it where they either both close or both stay open. It was weird.

It would be cool if it opened the passenger side mirror when I get in or unlock, but I have to press the button once to close the driver side and again to open them both.

I'm curious if this is a side effect of the Lincoln auto close.

Had the same thing happen to me last week hauling lumber. Thought someone hit the passenger side mirror at first, then realized the truck was just acting weird.

A good sized portion of my truck ownership over the decades has involved driving with the tailgate down.

I’m stuck folding the mirrors myself when I park, so my XLT hasn’t had this issue. I also have the 8’ bed but despite that half my trips this past week have been with the gate down.

You would think Ford would be aware of this phenomenon when developing their new trucks.

Also, how hard would it be to have a reverse camera that works with the tailgate down?

I understand not folding the mirrors when a door is open as an alert that something isn't right. It doesn't make sense why the passenger side mirror folds but not the driver's side, or why the passenger side doesn't unfold.
