I’ve developed a rattle in my driver door, and haven’t been able to fix it after numerous dealer trips. But today I took a look at the latch and it seems to be cracked/peeling:

I’m beginning to think this is the issue - could a latch that looks like the one above be causing a rattle? Or is that normal wear?

Hello! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this rattle concern? Thank you!

Update: I pulled the torn piece back into place as best I could and taped the striker with some foamy material, and with a hard slam of the door there’s no rattle when driving. Taking it to the dealer Monday to have the latch actuator replaced ??

So if you’re hearing a door rattle I guess check your latches to make sure they’re not coming apart. Doesn’t seem to be common based on searching the forum, but clearly it’s possible

Your latch looks awfully dry as well, the usually come with some grease on it from the factory, but the wears off over time. Use some lithium or even just normal grease to lube it up a little bit as well. Mine was that way a while back and had a rattle/squeak when going over bumps at times, I didn't think it was the latch, but greased it up good and haven't heard the rattle ever since.
