Hello all,

I noticed my start/stop does not work 80% of the time on my 2022 XLT 2.7 . I got the truck used with 20,000 miles. I have a battery tester at home. It's telling me the battery is OK. I do not drive long distances. My trips are mostly city driving. It's showing " Engine on due vehicle charging". If I plug a charger and let it charge overnight. It will eventually work for two days then stops. Does this mean I have a bad battery? Should I upgrade to a larger battery? The battery voltage is 12.44

I had a similar low volt warnings and it turned out to be a faulty Battery Monitor Sensor. It sits on the terminal post on front battery... Once replaced it works fine, no low voltage warnings so far.
I'm not a tech but just my experience, hope it helps

I feel like the voltage is low and it should be 12.6. Not sure though

The auto start stop not working is the main sign of a bad battery

Maybe try resetting BMS?

Good afternoon. Can you send over a message with your VIN and the name & location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your auto start/stop concerns.

BMS keeps the max voltage to 12.4... Not what I gre up with - FORD has other ideas... supposedly makes bat last longer.. I do short trips also so I often use a charger to bring up to max voltage allowed. *make sure you are clipping negative to clip behind the - connection bat stub. Dealer won't entertain going in and modifying the software.

To get a true battery "at rest" voltage you need to pop the hood and let it sit for at least an hour. This because when you open the door to pop the hood latch, some modules kick in (anticipating you'll then start the truck). I've observed that the battery voltage with some modules on is around 12.3 VDC. If I let it sit so that these modules quiet down (ie off). The voltage rises. This morning I went out and measured battery terminal voltage at 12.83 VDC. Ambient temperature is 14ºF. The real issue is battery capacity which your battery tester does not check. Is this the OEM battery? If so I've observed on this website that Ford appears to have gotten a bad batch of batteries or let many of them sit without working. Either is not good. Note that either of these can test "good" when in fact their capacity under load causes problems. In my case I just split for a new battery and have had zero issues since.

May I ask what kind of battery did you put in? H6 or H7? Did you use memory saver too?

Thanks

Just went in to a local NAPA store and asked for a drop in catalog battery (I'm partial to NAPA and their batteries). Didn't address the H7 vs H8 thing so I expect I got the standard size, H7, and it is an AGM type. No memory saver as such since the Powerboost has a keep alive battery under the Pax side rear seat. I didn't reset any thing, just put it in and kept on driving on the Interstates for Thanksgiving family dinners... That was two years ago and haven't had peep one out of the electrical system since.

Auto Start Stop, Battery Saver Mode, No Dome Lights... All resolved from a new battery at Napa. I think I installed a 9849.

I do not get any battery warning or experience any voltage error. The only thing that does not work is the auto/start stop. I know everyone hate this and I do too. I am just worried if the battery or alternator going bad
