What was the Corsa Muffler you had welded in the stock location? Did you keep the resonator with that setup? Looking for something to have a shop do rather than pay around a grand for Metal pipes. Plus my wife’s also said not to make the truck louder so if I can do it anyway without spending a bunch of money I may only sleep on the couch one night instead of multiple
I used one of their "V8 Pro Series" car mufflers. The 3" model fit perfectly. Have the muffler shop put the Corsa muffler where the factory resonator is located.
V8 Pro Series 2.5L & 3.0L Mufflers | Shop Pro Series V8 3.0L & 2.5L Mufflers - CORSA Performance

It sounded good but the actual cat back system is much better.

That sounds great
Thank you! It gets quieter after the after start enrichment period ends and settles down nicely. Minimal drone, you can hold a normal conversation and listen to the radio on low.

I had a muffler shop replace my stock muffler with a Flowmaster Delta 50. It sounded pretty good. Had a nice deep rumble but not quite as loud as I expected or hoped for. So then I had them cut the resonator off, thinking that would make it a little louder. However, it was substantially quieter and a little higher pitch. (The opposite of what I wanted or expected). The muffler shop said it was impossible to be quieter and I thought so too, but its absolutely quieter.

So I got a Flowmaster Super 44 and had the resonator put back on. The super 44 is a two chamber 13" muffler, compared to the Delta 50 being a 3 chamber 17"muffler. So naturally I expected it to be a little louder. It's not, Its very much quieter than the Delta 50. Seriously, it is barely louder than stock and not audible at all at cruising speed. Not nearly as loud as the wind noise with the windows closed. I have looked and confirmed that the muffler is not installed backwards.

None of this adds up in my mind. Everything I have done has had the opposite effect of what I expected. For reference, this is connected to a 5.0 L 2023 F150 RCSB. Does anybody else ever experience this phenomenon or have an explanation?
I had the delta 50 catback on my 18 Sierra 6.2. I thought the same thing. But over time it got louder and sounded great. Maybe give it some time. They do get louder over time. The one thing that sucked was there stainless catback rusted pretty bad in 5 years. Traded it in that way.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
If you need loud might as well go with the Smitty's.

I've got a 24 rcsb that I'm building up now. I've deep dived into exhaust system for it. The most aggressive and best sounding F150 are running SPD equal length exhaust system. It's a pricey setup. You Start with down pipes and a trombone resonator to create the equal length, Then into a xpipe/muffler combo with a Helmholtz resonator.
Here is a link with a 23 F150 Procharger rcsb running this setup.
