Dirty inside bed. Does Ford tailgate seal help keep dirt / dust out?

Ok I have a quad fold soft tonneau cover on my bed. I live on a dirt rd and my inside of bed gets ridiculously dirty. I ordered a Ford tailgate seal just wondering if anyone has had same issue and tailgate seal helped. My last 2 trucks had soft tonneau covers on them and I didn't have this kind of issue with them and that was with no tailgate seal or anything.
Anyone have any other ideas they've done to fix this issue

Yes, I have had the same issue. Other than a tailgate seal I don't think there is much that can be done.

It was pretty bad on my Frontier Pro-4X. I would generally fold it up or remove the tonneau cover if I was heading off road for a day. I'll probably do the same with this F-150.

The tailgate seal helps keep dust out for me. However, I get more water in the bed now as the sides don't drain down and divert water in versus sealing it out. It is only when I'm parked that is an issue, and it depends on how I'm parked and the way the rain is blowing. I just make sure anything that may get damaged from water is away from the two edges.

See my last truck was a frontier and had no issue like this one. It's horrible. I can live with a little getting in but I can go build dirt castles with as much as going in there. My cover seals it up pretty good I went through a really powerful car wash with it closed and had a very small trickle of water come in. But this dirt is ridiculous. Lol

What cover do you have. My cover doesn't really leak as I stated on post above this one but the dirt ..
The seal keeps dirt out pretty good for you tho . I can live with a little but man it really is bad back there.

I think Ford charges a pretty penny for a seal when you can get foam weather stripping cheap at the big box stores.

From what I've read having a really good seal top cover is what causes the tailgate area to vacuum up dirt. I haven't seen excessive dust in my bed but I'm in the city not on gravel roads.

I used points so thankfully I was covered. Lol.
Thats just my luck have a good cover makes it worse. Lol

The bed sides to the bed floor are also not perfectly welded/sealed. If you are looking to totally seal it up, you'll need to run a bead of silicone or something along the perimeter of the inside of the bed to get that seam sealed up good.

I have the side tailgate seals and I really like the ESI Rok Block for the tailgate (they do also sell the vertical seal pieces), completely covers the gap when the tailgate it down, makes it so much nicer to sweep out after hauling stuff. Only drawback is it is stuck to the bed and the tailgate, so you lose the ability to remove the tailgate, if that is something you do.

For me the tailgate seal along the bottom always either doesn't seal well, or ends up pealing off and not lasting very long. I have had the Rok BLock https://rokblock.com/ on my truck now for 2 years and it's been great!

Yeah I'd seen the edges not sealed up and was gonna get like some flex seal or something like that to seal up.
I'll have to go look at that rokblock as only time my tailgate ever been off was for spray in bed liner and put dampening kit on.
That being said will it stick to the spray in liner . Lol

I had the same question about whether it works with a spray in liner. In the install video, he installs the Rokblock in a truck with a spray in liner and mentions it several times. Looks like a good product.

I used points for mine as well. It worked for the summer I had it. Last winter the cold seemed to have done something to the adhesive and it started coming off the truck. So I just ripped it off.

I see you're in a much warmer climate than i am so you shouldn't run into that issue.

I have the Bak X4S. The rear corners don't fully seal and the water is meant to drain down the sides of the tailgate. Where the vertical seal runs interferes with it draining and it now builds up some right at the corners for me. It may be that I put the seal in the wrong place though ?‍

I have the Premium LineX bed liner on my truck, and it has done really well. You really have to get the surface clean, and then really get it pressed into the rough surface. (I used a rollerblade wheel and my body weight to press it down). Then I stacked bags of sand on top of it for a few hours to let it 'cure'.

I did have one spot come loose, just dabbed a bit of gorilla glue and put some weight on it to get it to cure.

I have a Retrax cover and got a TON of dust in there during a long day driving around on dirt roads in the Utah desert.
Got some stick on foam weatherstripping and put it all the way around the sides and bottom of the tailgate. It's not perfect now, but it was a huge improvement.
