Diode dynamics Elite Max headlights and fog light issues (UPDATED 9/18/24)

No, i haven't done that yet. I figured since it was marketed at PLUG AND PLAY i wouldn't have to fiddle with forscan to get it to work, also everything was FINE until a just a few days ago. I have seen the threads where you can increase the DRL brightness on the OEM LED headlights. I was poking around in the wiring harness to make sure all the connections were still seated well, and i noticed that the...resistors? the black finned aluminum parts of the wiring harness were so hot i burned my finger tips on them. Im wondering if the harness hasn't been improved enough?

yea I wasn’t suggesting to make changes. Just that if you had made changes, those could cause issues.

I had the oem projectors so my harness doesn’t have the resistor on it.

That makes sense- yea I try to avoid Forscan stuff when I can. Despite being tech savvy and doing a few simple tweaks. Oh that’s interesting. Perhaps it’s just the harness adapters that have shit the bed and it’s an easy fix. I should manage my expectations though.

UPDATE: The reset pattern didn't work so I unplugged one light and was able to program it individually to match the other light. After reprogramming and reseating all the connectors my issues seemed to resolve.

Honestly- now that theyre dialed in, I wouldn’t spend money on anything else. I’m a bit pissed that they held onto my money for so long but the product is phenomenal. They look awesome and perform even better.

Looks great. I've had mine on back order since beginning of June. Every time I have inquired on updates from diode dynamics, I have been getting the 5 weeks out, 3 weeks out, 1 to 2 weeks out (which was 4 weeks ago). Now I don't even get replies. Hope this isn't what I can expect moving forward. Glad they have things dialed in now.

That fucking sucks man. It’s painful to have them hold your money hostage like that and keep pushing you out. The quality is there if you can stomach the wait…

I'll also provide my experience here. I ordered the Elite Max headlights and Elite fog lights back in December of last year. I received the fog lights around May, but only received the headlights earlier this month. It was just a massive waiting game, unfortunately. That being said, I did get the chance to install them, but haven't gotten to really play with or test all the features yet as the truck is currently down waiting on some other parts.

From my initial take - these are absolutely amazing, and VERY well designed. My thoughts reflect the same as what Iriquois states - now that I have them, I wouldn't have spent the money on anything else. They do take some time to get all the wiring run for the multiple harnesses, but the actual parts quality and fit is amazing, and they look beautiful.

I gotta admit, the whole package is outstanding visually.

Quite the learning curve to become a legitimate aftermarket LED Projector headlight manufacturer.

It makes me realize just how much more goes into the components that make up these modern technology laden vehicles, and how we consumers might underappreciate just how much engineering and testing went into delivering an OEM F150.

Or put another way, 550,000 F150's rolled off of the 2 assembly lines and 99.99% of those equipped with the OEM Projector LED headlights were fully functional. And 4 years later, still are.

I'm relieved for DD to get over (most?) the difficult obstacles they faced entering this particular arena. This thread was humbling.

I'll be honest, if Diode Dynamics continues to offer this quality and functionality of lighting, they are going to dominate the industry. They will easily overrun companies like Morimoto and AlphaRex. The only competitor they really would have at this point IMO is Baja Designs, but obviously BD is into the offroad lighting arena, not the OEM replacement stuff.

I mean I have made it this far waiting. So I'll keep waiting it out. I just wish diode dynamics would be more upfront with realistic expectations. Did you wire the offroad lights to its own switch? I see you have ditch lights. I have a set of ss3 pros. Might tie them into that switch.

You could definitely tie them into your SS3's. The "Max" lights when switched on basically turn all the lighting on at full brightness. It's very cool.
