Seems like after my latest update (full screen Android auto) I sometimes have a very dim screen. It's like it's in night mode but the headlights are not on. I assume it's the same sensor for headlights and radio brightness?

Anyone else have this? It can be hard to see the radio during the day. The menu and dash button are turned up to full brightness. Headlights on auto (and off)

When it’s dim is it the dark blue like at night or the white color during the day? I haven’t noticed anything with mine.

Mine is set to always be dk blue. This always worked fine before as it was bright enough even with the sun out.

No issues here. I keep the display to full brightness and only ever turn it down when in the highway at night and I use the dash dimming button to the left of the staring wheel.

Any chance it's dimmed over there instead of the sync setting?

I have it turned up on the dash buttons and in sync. Last week in thought it looked dim and noticed the green icons for headlights were not lit and then it faded to full brightness and it looked great. Then a few minutes it faded to dim again.

My thoughts were it either uses a different sensor than the headlights or perhaps it's programmed to use a different reading or value when it considers it night.

Mine does it in the morning or late evening if the sun is behind me. The sensor ( on the dash) gets shaded and it thinks it should be in night mode brightness.

Wouldn't that be the same sensor that turns the headlights on?

They are staying off. Unless it's a different value for headlights on

watch the hats or other items on the dash above the center screen they can block the sensors.

It's not turning the headlights on but I can shine a flashlight on the sensor to make the screen brighten back up. It is center of the dash between the storage tray and the windshield.

The other issue I have is the rearview mirror dims way too much if there's a car behind me, but I don't think these are related issues. I may put a piece of electrical tape over the mirror sensor to see if that helps.

Sounds like the same thing I having going on. Definitely nothing sitting on the sensor. Next time I notice it's dim during the day I'll put a flash light on it to see if it helps. Might be out of spec or something.

Seems like it started after the big update with full screen Android auto but I can't say for certain.

I don't use Android so at least mine is not related to that. It just seems like the sensor is set way too sensitive. Mine has been acting this way for over a year.

Yep, guilty. Took me a few days to catch on but this will definitely do it. In my case it was a folder I tossed on the dash
