Did you know the F-150 has two, sometimes 3 batteries?

I just learned this over in the Powerboost FB group. There is a place under the right rear passenger's seat where an AGM battery is installed. To correctly test the engine battery, you have to have this battery disconnected, because it runs in parallel with the main car battery.

I've heard some people having issues with their car battery. This AGM needs to be checked too.

You are new here but most of us have determined Motorcraft batteries under hood to be problematic across the whole engine lineup. Haven't seen as many complaints on the auxiliary battery, but I don't have a PB to worry about that.

The video says the AGM battery is in all trims unless I misunderstood.

The aux battery is only on trims that have Pro Power on board.
1 Aux battery on the Powerboost and 2 Aux batteries on non-hybrid with Pro Power.

What function does the battery serve on non-hybrids with Pro Power? Can I assume correctly that it's only to start the motor? Unless it's a deep-cycle battery, I can't see how it would provide any direct benefit to the inverter.

They power the inverter for non-hybrid trucks. Yes, they are deep cycle AGM batteries.

Pro Power does not run off of the main battery or the primary alternator.
Non-hybrid trucks with Pro Power use a secondary 24v alternator and the two deep cycle AGM batteries under the rear seat.

It's interesting that the secondary alternator is 24V. That's certainly more efficient in terms of voltage drop across the cables to the AGM batteries. Are those batteries 24V, or wired in series?

12v wired in series.

12v wired in series.
That makes sense. As someone who spends a lot of time in a travel trailer, that could be useful, but it's not hard to carry a quiet 2kW inverter generator. I already have 200Ah of LFP batteries and plenty of solar capacity.

Now, if the Heavy-Duty Payload Package was available in a PB, that, with 7.2KW ProPower, would be the ideal tow vehicle for me. I'd still have LFP batteries and some solar capacity, but I wouldn't have to think about where I parked.

Several posts on here about the 2kw inverter being disappointing in what it can actually run far under the rating. Aftermarket inverters perform better and I agree a small generator is more economical than running a truck engine. I have the 400w which is fine for running a laptop or charging power tool batteries. I can carry a real portable inverter generator as needed.

Agree... best you can get on the Powerboost is the Max Tow package due to the added weight of the hybrid drive system and battery pack.

I also have the 400W inverter and have yet to find a use for it. I no longer carry around the 350W modified sine wave inverter I plugged into the accessory port, but I rarely used that, either.
