I got the RCI Trans Guard for the Powerboost, and they had a coupon for free Cat guards. So I now have the trans and cat guards that I paid roughly $500 including state tax and shipping. Install was not that hard, but DO NOT count on the RCI installation docs for getting a crystal clear understand of how to do it. Read them a couple of times, look the trans plate over really well as far as the mounting locations, then get under the truck and take a look. It will make MUCH more sense. Also, if you are not getting the engine guard, you have to knock out a put-cut metal piece on the trans guard that you then feed the OEM little metal engine guard through. There is a Youtube video where they beat the OEM guard flat, but that was not necessary.

I give it a 7 out of 10 on ease of install. It would have been a 9 if I had another set of hands to help lift the guard with the attached cat guards in place. It is probaby 30-35lbs and kind of akward...

One last comment on the diaper change to RCI trans & cat guards.

This is the trans guard with the cat guards installed. Sorry, not the best pic, but you get the general idea.

I had to take make about a 450 mile drive earlier in the week. Mostly highway speeds of 65-75 in cruise with Blue Cruise active for about 325 miles of the trip, no real wind to speak of.

In the past, I always would get about 20mpg driving this same road under similar driving conditions. This trip I got over 22mpg using fuel from the same station I always frequent. The only thing that was different are the new guards. I would say they added a good 30-35 pounds versus the original felt diaper.

I expected to see a fuel mileage reduction, so this really surprised me. Maybe there is less air flow turbulence under there now with a nice, flat surface making it easier to push through the air. I will have to keep watching it to see if I continue to see the higher fuel mileage.

It also seems like the cab is even quieter, but I have no objective way to have measured this. Bottom line for me is complete satisfaction with these new guards, with the added benefit of cat protection.
