Looking for any updated information; 2021 Powerboost, 55,000 miles, P084B code. The truck has recently developed a problem that is getting worse. The code started setting only when towing (7K#) on hot days and at the end of long climbs. There were no drivability issues. Dealer tried a pressure sensor replacement. That did not fix it. Problem got worse. Code still only set when towing. Still sets a code at the end of long climbs. But also started setting codes towing on flat roads and lower temperatures. And once the transmission locked into 4th gear at 60 mph and wouldn’t shift for about a minute. Dealers next repair was to replace Hybrid drive/torque converter assembly. Problem not fixed. Still setting codes and locked into 3rd gear at speed for 15 minutes. Dealer now says the Ford engineers have identified the problem and that hundreds of Powerboost trucks of all years have the problem. Engineers say it is a calibration problem and that it will take a month to write new calibration tables. They say the transmission locking into gear is a safety feature. Parking the truck and letting it cool down returns functionality to the transmission. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any fixes out there?

Drain and refill was done at the same time as the torque converter/ hybrid drive assembly was replaced. The fluid was a little dark, but the highest percentage of driving miles is with a trailer weighing 7000 pounds so that is normal.

There's previously been issues w/ 10spd's pump failing but it should have been rectified. Perhaps it's coming back?

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your F-150 concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

I had a 2021 PB Lariat w/ all the options, at about 80,000 (I drive a lot, mostly 50MPH+) the transmission sent several codes, basically the high pressure sensor was "bad". They changed that 2 times and each time it went back to a code environment. Then they pulled the transmission and replaced the sensor and something else, again the code came back within a day or so ... FINALLY, they told me they would replace the entire transmission with a new one. During this time I did my research and found out that an out of warranty PB transmission is a minimum $12K deal!! So I asked the dealer to help me out of the truck, they (Ford) gave me a $12K credit plus another $2K for purchase of another Ford vehicle - basically take back my truck and me buy something new for $14K off. Due to the miles I have driven etc, I took the deal and got an ICE F150 3.5EB ... really like the new truck, but miss the PB mileage (21 vs 19) ... but I cannot afford a $12K transmission every 80K miles.

I go to a large dealer that I have a good relationship with, I purchase several trucks from them for my company so I tend to get good and quick service. My service manager told me they are starting to see these PB transmission problems - honestly, I don't want to ever have to drive a GM or Ram truck, but if my current one gives me issues I may have to change. Finally, my friend has a 2022PB, basically the same as my old one, it went into limp mode and the dealer (and Ford) could NOT fix it 60 days later!! They gave him a buy back, dealer told him the truck would likely be sent back to Dearborn for a breakdown on what caused it, etc.

$12k?

Non hybrid should be around $3k for the parts:

Hybrid should be about $6k:

The PB's trans for the most part is a run of the mill 10r80. Its internals and pumps are shared across the line. The hybrid drive assembly is what's different and it's located outside of the shared component area. They go for about 3k on ebay.

Maybe so ... $3K or $6K, but dealer wanted $12K for complete replacement. Real issue for me having to take my relatively new truck in FOUR times for the same issue and spend more than 30 days in a rental. Several of the rentals were 35K+ mile rat traps although one was a new GMC Yukon all from Enterprise. That is the other issue, if they would put us in something similar to what we bought that might be more reasonable. But to have Ford now demand that Enterprise can only provide a Ford as a replacement, my last loaner was a miserable Ford escape SUV with over 40,000 miles - I have a truck for work and that dumb thing was worthless to me.
