Just be aware that the power from the mirror is only on when the vehicle is on. If you have a camera that has the ability to monitor motion when the vehicle is off the Dongar adapter will probably not allow this feature.

I ran a wire down the passenger A pillar and powered it from the fuse block in the passenger kick panel with a Fuse Tap. Pull the cover off the "OH SHIT HANDLE" and two bolts under it. Cover pulls off. Tied wire along existing wire. You can get switched and steady power in that fuse block.

Check the draw on your camera setup before assuming something at/near the rear view mirror will support it. Some require more amperage than others.

Also know that everything up there shuts down (immediately or delayed, depending upon where you connect), so if you want it to run unattended (e.g., parking lot mode), you'll need to do something different.

I went with a Viofo setup and hardwired it to the fuse panel on the passenger side. It provides voltage for unattended monitoring, but will shut it down if the voltage drops too low.

I did use a wiretap into the rear view mirror auto-dim plug for my radar detector, but that doesn't draw much and it doesn't need to run after the truck is shut down.
