That is very impressive, for sure.

But can it power a house? :D

The thing the 5.5 utilizes is hot side DI, and it actually sprays up at the cylinder head instead of down. The A/M seems to get 1000 HP out of the 5.0 Coyote easier than the 5.2 Predator. The PI is becoming the Predators limitation imo. Pump gas really needs the direct shot of fuel into the cylinder to cool the intake charge with DI for high compression N/A or high boost F/I. The 5.2 Voodoo had the same issue, they had to bleed off compression with the VCT. That motor needs DI. It’s strange the mainstream 5.0 gets it yet the performance guys are still waiting on it.

Love the Corvette, currently have a C7 Z06, but I wonder what, if anything, they did to the trans to handle that power ? The current Stingrays are having some issues with it and they're less than 1/2 the h.p.

If you can afford the ZR1 then you almost certainly will have a whole house generator already in place. I know I would if I could afford that toy.

From reading traction will be as it always is the issue. How much power they can put to the ground is the question. Street 0-60 likely to be close to your Z06 but track will be a totally different story. Very exciting to see the amazing American V8 at this level.

Stingrays and z06s have been the test mules to see what kinks need to be ironed out for the zr1. The zr1 will likely be the test bed for the zora (zr1 powertrain, front electric motors). The engineers have said they've revised and improved the 8spd for the zr1. So we'll see if that holds up to the test.

It seems to me that Chevy built & designed the C8 Corvette Zora first, then made "lesser" variants based on that platform, and are releasing them in reverse order (stingray, z06, eray, zr1, Zora) to have everything fixed & perfected before the Zora arrives.

So I'm guessing since they're about to release the zr1 and the Z06 is out already there won't be a Grand Sport edition

The next one is the Zora edition. It is the 1,064 HP V8 + Twin hybrid drives in the front. Lots of good reads on that one.

It seems like Ford also has a hybrid front drive 5.0 V8 mustang on the way next April. I think that’s the N/A Dark Horse 5.0 at 500 HP plus twin hybrid electric drives in the front axle. That will be lethal. Probably the next GT-350 is my guess, normally N/A gets the 350 nameplate.

I'm curious as to how much of that potential power will be left on the table as it scoots around the 'Ring.

The high HP numbers are simply PR statements if the road holding, braking, and transmission/transaxle can't keep up. - Although there's more than half a ton of downforce, how does the rest of the geometry hold up? Are those carbon rotors going to take too long to get to an optimal temp? Even with the efficiencies of ducting and thermal benefits of turbocharging, the heat by-product from 1,000+ HP is significant; is it sufficiently managed?

I suspect it will be an admirable beast, much as the Ford GT was. But Ford didn't keep them in production for long for several reasons. - Long term maintenance and serviceability were undoubtedly part of the equation.

This will be an interesting to watch unfold.

I forgot to mention the eray and that gave me an idea; if there is a grandsport or some sort of similar moniker, it could be the z06 version of the eray? ?

Zora is the zr1 engine + electric motors.

I'm thinking grand sport could be z06 engine + electric motors.
