I think you should call up Cobb and tell them they are wrong. (lol)
There's thousands of us smaller manufacturers out there. Producing a product doesn't make it best/right/functional else people would be begging china for products. I've come up with original products/designs all of my adult life, under my own businesses. The design R&D is the best part of it --- it's everything that follows having a complete product I don't care for. I was building reconnaissance UAVs before the term UAV was part of the lexicon

How is your $10,000 EV/Hybrid active burning car fire scooper/tow trailer design doing?

While moving my IAT is 1 degree over ambient.

It's sitting next to my DIY cruise missile

Update on the COBB Radiator cover: On the highway my air intake temp is 1 degree warmer than ambient. A few times I saw my IAT was 1 degree LOWER than ambient, I don't think you can get that with factory setup. However I did not watch this temperature on the factory piece. I have a Scanguage 2 mounted on the dash, also have a lariat sport grille installed which I think is perhaps better flowing than the old one.

This is nothing more than a fancy dress piece. The updated shroud from the factory provides better flow. The COBB unit just creates turbulent air and loses you volume from the ram air effect. When we designed the Raptor R (and its updated shroud) we used tufts of yarn to determine the best possible path to this. Originally we thought the shroud similar to COBB’s approach would be better but it was the opposite. It looks cool but it doesn’t do anything beyond that. Enjoy your placebo
lol - I measured IAT, 1 degree lower than ambient. You can't do that with factory. Can you say IAT? do you even know what that means?

Unless the ford PCM is lying to me that it what it said. I read IAT from Scanguage (PCM) and the ambient is provided from the factory. Twice I saw 1 degree lower than ambient, all via Fords sensors. Not lying about this. Did you get fired or something? Nice single deleted post/thread you have...

Those measurements are within 5% at best usually 10% though. There’s a reason extensive instrumentation is done with actual meters and probes. And no not fired, still making my way up the chain as an LL5 for now
I realize margin of error, but even with that I had never seen -1 ( minus one deg F.)difference before. The front surface area is greater so more air is allowed in. Yes it's good to cut the factory piece like others did above. I was paranoid after seeing the TSB on the 24's blowing turbos due to too small, pressure drop, material flopping around. Cobb showed a vid of the factory snorkle lip flexing closed etc. I have fixed all of that, It may heat soak faster in stopped traffic, which luckily I rarely have.

The width of the intake is wider across the front of the grille - larger length surface area. I measured the width of the drivers side mesh and it's 11 1/4 inches wide. This is +3 wider than factory drivers. The "drinkers" side is even wider, so it's like +7" wider inlet across the grille. I'm sure it's still turbulent.

Heck PM me your Ford address and I'll have COBB send you one to dyno test. It's only $125. UAE is hot as "hell" yes?, what are your IAT's there? (in F) I also have the roush air intake with dry bag. I'd think that'd be good for you in the UAE with all the sand?

Babbage…… that Cobb piece is, in no way in hell, going to lower the inlet air temp below that of the ambient air temp. Think about it, there is no way in hell. Do you think Cobb hid an air chilling system in that plate?

You’re barking up the wrong tree brother.
And you’re arguing with somebody who actually knows better. Possibly with more data in hand than Cobb could ever think about.

I'm sure its lower on the highway now in the cold. Lariat grill was coverd white with ice. Sure, it may not be lower than ambient actual, but it does show IAT's are lower now and closer to ambient. This is cold NY air. Most here don't have a SGII do you don't even know what your IAT is relative to ambient! (do you? no?) I had the SG2 before COBB and I have the SG2 now after COBB and you know what? IATs are lower. You are arguing with me about something you don't own, nor do you even know your what your IAT's are, so that's something really laughable.

Well after taking a double take of my radiator cover, that I thought already had the cut out for the snorkel, I realized I was wrong and nervously cut the radiator cover. After 10-15 min this is the result. Don’t judge me to harsh, it was done with my trusty bench made pocket knife. This is on my 2024 F-150 EB FX4
