2024 Ford F-150 Powerboost
I searched F150 Powerboost fuel pump issues and came across this forum due to problems with my new truck. We bought a new 2024 F150 Powerboost with 30 miles on the odometer this Monday, June 24, 2024 in Silverthorne Colorado due to the expensive failure of my 2013 F350 on a road trip from the west coast to the midwest. The next day we made it to North Platte Nebraska with the new F150, where the check engine light came on and the engine started stuttering or running rough. Pulled over and in approximately 10 minutes it "self healed" (check engine light went off and engine was running smooth again), so we proceeded. Check engine light came on again passing through Lincoln Nebraska so we pulled off the highway and contacted local Ford dealers. First one said "sorry we sent all the techs home early because of the heat", the second said they wouldn't be able to look at it until July 10 (!?!?!), and the third from North Omaha was very helpful with information and arranging to get our truck into their service queue. They checked codes yesterday, Wednesday 6/26 and fuel pump/wiring/fuel pump relay module codes were registered. They ordered a new fuel pump and relay module from Kansas City and as of 2pm Thursday 6/27 only the relay module has arrived. We are stranded over 1500 miles from home and hundreds of miles from our destination. Reading the posts here regarding fuel pump and related issues combined with the Ford supply chain issues getting replacement factory parts is very disappointing. This is our 6th new Ford (4 trucks and 2 SUVs) and this is the most deeply disappointing vehicle initial quality ordeal we have ever experienced or heard of among family, friends, and co-workers. I'll provide an update later today or tomorrow.

I'm curious whether there is an ambient temperature root cause with these fuel pumps and electronics because of what happened in Rockfish's posting. We drove though 102 degree heat on Tuesday... But note, we have driven multiple vehicles multiple times from Florida to California in brutal summer conditions (up to 119 degrees in the desert) and never had a problem like this.

First I've heard of fuel pump issues on this site. Not much in search results either.

Same as @UGADawg96 - first time heard of a fuel pump failure on this forum. It is mechanical and it can fail. Unfortunately it is in that truck.

Mine went out a couple weeks ago at 30k, my brother’s went out at less than 5k. Both trucks sat at the dealer for a week or so untouched, no loaner or rental and dealer very unresponsive.

Friday, 6/28 update: New fuel pump was received late yesterday and installed today - successfully cleared all codes. Picked it up mid-day and drove 300 plus miles today with no problems. Thanks to Baxter Ford West Dodge in Elkhorn (Omaha) Nebraska!

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Hi - how do I know you are legit and that I should provide you my truck's VIN? I can provide you with the selling dealership, Summit Ford in Silverthorne Colorado, who I believe took advantage of our situation with 2013 F350 problems telling us it would be multiple days and a minimum of $8000-13,000 to repair once their Ford certified diesel technician returned to duty three days later. Due to our schedule and not being able to wait three more days on our cross country trip, we were forced to trade in our F350 on this 2024 F150 at Summit, which turned out to be a disaster as previously described. We feel totally cheated because our 2013 F350 had only 105,000 miles, zero rust (Florida purchase new and lived/used only in Florida and California); Summit only gave us $15,000 on trade-in and one day after their diesel tech returned, they had it up for sale on their website for >$39,000.

2024 Powerboost with 2165 miles and it TURNED OFF. On I35-W through Ft Worth in heavy stop-stop-go traffic, air temperature about 101. Engine started rough idle, rpm fluctuated 900-1400 rpm and then it just shut off and threw itself into park. No way to get it out of park (blocking full lane less than 1/4 from I35 W-E merge at 4:45pm). After useless attempts over about 30 minutes, the cops showed up and, FM, it started, still idling rough. Got to a hotel with check engine light on. Shout out to 5-Star Ford of Lewiston, tech Zach, who read the codes and, of 3 Ford dealers in the Denton area, were the only ones who would even look at it. Now just to figure out how to get Ford to honor the extended warranty and pay for my rental car back to San Antonio because I am NOT driving 500 miles on the chance it won’t break down again. I will update as appropriate.

I have a 2024 F-150 Lariat with the Powerboost. This is my second check engine warning light. Took it to Ford and they couldn't find anything, but noted it in the records. Same info saying Fuel lines or Fuel pump.
