One for the forscan gurus.
I bought the rear right tail light from US ( oem ford original ) and import it to Uruguay. I installed and surprise, they sent me the wrong one with amber turn signal. Is any way to change the led color to red with forscan?
Is a 2023 f150 3.5 ecoboost Lariat.
I cant send it back to us.
Thanks in advance to any help.

LEDs are manufactured and grouped according to wavelength, so you will not be able to change the wavelength of an LED through software. You’d need to swap out the amber LED to a red.

Right what i thought. And could be posible to open both tail lights and change the leds? Put the red ones on the amber ones. Or am i saying something really stupid?
Thanks for all responses.

Chances are this would not be feasible as it's near 100% likely that the housings are bonded together, so you wouldn't be able to heat them like you can with headlight housings to open them up. Even if you could heat them up to separate them there's a high risk of damaging them due to the shape but if successful you would need to remove the LED array board to access the chips that need to be replaced. From there source the correct replacements in the color you want and solder them in without damaging the diodes. Once that's done, test and reassemble the housings hoping that they don't leak. It'd be an absolute ton of work. Your best option would be to buy another for the side you want in the color you want. OE US spec for yellow or OE with red for EU spec.

It’s possible, but there are many factors that come into play.

You’d need the right equipment and the proper electronics skills to do it. LED removal and replacement can be tricky, even for a professional like myself.

If you could find out the LED manufacturer and part number for the amber device, then you could find the part number for the red and try to source it. Or you could cross-reference to a competing LED manufacturer.

Bottom line is the foot print of the new LED would have to match what’s on the circuit board now, otherwise it’s not going to be practical to make a swap.

Apreciate your help but is to much knowlege for doing it. I thought it could be something like umpluging in the old one and plugin in the new one, like all leds in a card or something like that.
Thanks again.
