I have a 2021 5.0 Lariat that is finally going to a dealer that gives me hope of charging or battery drain issues. Anyone have a unlimited Carfax account? I'd be curious to see what the vehicle has been in for previously. I became aware that I am the 4th owner the last dealership I had try to solve my issues.

Last time I used them, it was about $6.

You need FDRS to look through what they've done. Carfax will only tell you if it was a buyback. Dealer should be able to give you prior history though. FDRS will let you look through each troubleshooting step they went through.

I do have an FDRS report. I discussed it with the dealer I am dropping off at on Monday. They seemed knowledgeable and WILLING to help with all the software updates it apparently needs. It seems much, if not all, of the update issues could stem from the charging issues and the truck not allowing updates to happen or complete due to it thinking it has low voltage. I've already had the battery replaced once in less than 3 months and it is reporting it again. This latest dealer seems to suggest diving deeper and seeing if it is beyond the battery. I've got my fingers crossed as the 3yr bumper to bumper ends on Friday. Issues have been documented prior to Friday though.

There's a 'report' feature in FDRS? Typically it involves going through every instance searching what was done (by day).

If you're still in warranty, why not drop a few more $ on an ESP. If you're the 4th owner already, ya best cover your ass. Ain't nothing cheap to replace on these trucks.

Trust me, I'm seriously considering it! Just sucks that either way you look at it I have to keep throwing money at it!

Well here's a ballpark for warranties at the $100 deductible. I'd grab any one of these sub $1k options without thinking about it. Interest free 18 month financing available free of charge

So I’ve seen that pricing when going in dealers website that advertise warranties. It differs by several hundred dollars from what the quotes are going direct to the Ford website. Anyone have knowledge? Are the cheaper ones third party warranties?

The dealer selling them at cost has posts here. Those prices are currently $50 higher than what they're selling them for this month. Find the post from granger regarding this, they have instructions in it.

Do you use anything else besides carfax? There are negative events that manage to never show up on reports and on the other end of the spectrum all it takes is someone typing a number wrong and suddenly cars are incorrectly flagged with odometer rollback.

Don't buy 3rd party. Granger has the best prices. Your truck will have an additional $100 surcharge because it is over the initial 12-month, 12000 miles. Dealerships and 3rd party warranty providers can get finicky with each other. I just bought a 7-year 100,000-mile Premium Care warranty with 1st day rental and LED coverage for 1660. It would have been 1560, but my truck just ticked over a year old. It's still worth it for peace of mind.

Is FDRS the same as the OASIS reports? Of the few used Fords I have purchased over the years my guy would run the OASIS for me.
